You CAN Always Get What You Want

Author : The Lone Stag

I have gotten a lot of feedback from my jailbreaking post. I really appreciate it when you guys tell me if it works, or if something is wrong. It lets me know if I need to fix directions or if things actually work for you. Keep the comments coming!

Now to the title of my post. I want to know what you guys want me to be posting. These posts are for you, so why shouldn’t you pick the topics? On the comments page for this post, I want you to write what you want to see in future posts. Do you want more instructions (for example, how to ssh, how to make custom backgrounds/themes, how to totally pwn your iPod, etc.), more information about apps (which are new, which are the best, which not to use, etc.), or do you want more information about general Apple news (SDK, iPod prices, software workings, etc.).

The above topics are not the only ones you can choose from. Make some good ones up if you have any ideas. Please do not post personal help requests. I will not post answers to anything on the comments page, so don’t bother posting questions. Instead, email them to me at LoneStag01@aim.com. In case you haven’t emailed me or posted to me yet, I ALWAYS reply to messages and posts. Always. If you are lucky, you can AIM me for live help, or schedule a time to chat that is good for you.

On Sunday, the 16th, I will check all of the posts. I will then write a story about the most popular topic. I hope you guys post a lot of topics, so I can write more stories from popular topics in the future. Posting can only help you, so just do it.

I hope to get a lot of feedback, so start your typing.

Thanks for the request! I’d love to see recommendations on specific installer apps. More jailbreaking info (like, how to upgrade to the latest release if you’re already jailbroken on 1.1.1, or 1.1.2). But mostly, when apple comes out with a new update, I’d love to know what features the latest release has, and whether it’s worth the effort of upgrading and re-jailbreaking to get them.

Definitely not interested in general news - can get that from lots of other places. I like that this site is focused on the touch.

How can we recommend stuff to you if you already mentioned all the good stuff already?!? haha

On a serious note, I think you should post up what applications YOU have on your iPod touch. This kind of goes with what you mentioned about “what’s good” and “what’s not.” Since you know your stuff about jailbreaking, I think it would be cool to see what applications you or others have on their device. It will show people’s personality and to see what applications people actually use.

Another thing I recommend is to have descriptions of the applications. When I go onto installer I like reading about what I download. Sometimes they don’t have great descriptions or it’s cut off, so you can’t read the rest. It would be nice if you wrote descriptions about the application and maybe include a screenshot of that application. For example, when I want to download a theme for summerboard, I like when the “More Info” has a preview of it before I download it. It saves me time and then I can move on to find a theme I actually like.

I know there are tons of applications to do this for, but maybe a little at a time. It would help me (and others) out a lot. Thanks so much!

I already know how to total pwn the iPod Touch, but it’s not for the faint of heart…

It also involves a 20lb sledge.

I actually really like the idea of a themes section.
    Here’s what I’m thinking.
I hate getting themes from the installer because you never know what they’re going to look like, and they usually are missing a lot of icons. Have a section of downloadable themes (with a screenshot), and then theme sources, such as docks, wallpappers, and icon sets, which all play into them sumer board themes wonderful modularity. And most importantly, there should be a list of what icons are covered in each theme/icon set. Everything of course user submitted.

But that’s just a little dream of mine.

Just to back up what alot of people are talking about I just want to reinforce see information on new apps and the in’s and out’s. I find myself loading my ipod touch with tons of applications, only to be let down the majority of the time.I have found many useful apps but half of them don’t even to what they say they will. I remember downloading stacks….ya that took a couple weeks to get off my ipod touch!

Themes are also a great thing to put on as well, but most definitely i think getting updates on new apps that are useful is a great way to stay connected with your readers. Keep up the great work!
