THIS ONLY WORKS WITH IPHONE 1GEN, IPHONE 3G, AND 1GEN IPOD TOUCH

THE IPOD TOUCH 2G ISN”T JAILBREAKABLE YET

You don’y really need detailed instructions on how to jailbreak to 2.2. It is just way too easy. This is just to answer some questions and give some pointers to the process.

If you want to keep all of your Apps.

Install “AptBackup” from Cydia and run the app. Click “Backup”.

If you want to only keep certain Apps

Personally, I recommend doing this. Personally, I add a lot of Apps and then never use them. This slows down the iPod and can result in crashes or slower performances. What I would suggest is opening Cydia and clicking “Manage” and then “Packages”. Take some screenshots (hold home and power and your screen will flash white) of all of the apps you have. Then sync your iPod and save your pictures from your iPod (as a removable disk). THen you will have all of the apps you had and can figure out which ones you would like to keep.

Now go into iTunes and click “Update”.

Update your iPod. DO NOT RESTORE (unless you want to start from scratch).

If you downloaded the firmware from iTunes, here is where it is “C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates”

If you kept all of your apps, then open Cydia and download “AptBackup” (which you used earlier) and run it. Click “Restore” and it will download all of your apps that you previously had.

NOTE: Updating DOES NOT delete your jailbroken apps. It only erases the “icon” (viewable part). Reinstalling the app will show the icon and allow all data to be the same from where you left off. Restoring will delete everything on your iPod, including apps, data, music, etc

Do you need to have jailbroken your ipod before or can you just jailbreak 2.2 without ever having your ipod jailbroken?

Just updated my firmware to 2.2

tried to PWN my iPod Touch and when I select the firmware (on QuickPWN) file I get a “firmware error string”

on the screen below the browse box it says “the correct IPSW wil have a name beggining with _2.2″

the thing is my firmware names by:

“iPod2,1_2.2_5G77a_Restore.ipsw”

so I can’t go forward with the PWN cause the blue arrow is blocked cause of the “firmware error string” shit
