I’ve been asked a dozen or more times on how to downgrade your firmware to be back to old school classic 1.1.1. I’m not sure why people want to go back to 1.1.1, but it’s your choice. You need to make sure to download 2 things: download Ziphone and a 1.1.1 ipsw file. Here are the links to get Ziphone and the ipsw file:
ziphone.org

I can’t currently check if the ipsw will download correctly, but if it doesn’t…you can find it somewhere in the google world.
The best and easiest way to downgrade is by running Ziphone. Within Ziphone, there are advanced options and you just have to click DFU mode. Once that’s done, you do the rest on iTunes. Plug in your iPod and once it is recognized, just hold shift and click on restore. Then you would choose the 1.1.1 ipsw file you downloaded and let it do its thing. Once it’s done, you will be back to the classic 1.1.1 firmware. You can do this with any firmware, but everybody’s been asking about 1.1.1, so I’m just writing about that one. Hope all goes well!
