I am thrilled to announce that the amazing iPhone-Dev Team has done it again. With lightening speed, they have already released a working version of QuickPwn that jailbreaks firmware 2.2.

This is a simple jailbreak method now. Just update your iPod in iTunes and then run the new version of QuickPwn (download here). It is quite simple really. This will work on any type of iPhone and the first Gen iPod Touch (sorry to all of you 2nd Gen owners).

The iPhone/iPod Touch firmware 2.2 had been released to developers earlier this week, and already the iPhone Dev Team knows pretty much everything about it. They have already hacked it and can run a jailbreak with it on a firmware 2.2 iPhone first gen.

The second beta of firmware version 2.2 has been out for a few days. It looks like Apple still doesn’t have a fix for devices already prone to the pwnage jailbreak and unlock.

Here’s our obligatory screenshot [here] of a jailbroken and unlocked 1G/2G iPhone running 2.2beta2 (which also shows an interesting daemon they left lying around).

Hopefully, this means that there will be a new version of QuickPwn available right when firmware 2.2 is released. Until then, just deal with any bugs you have on 2.1(.1).

Well, as you can see, the day has finally arrived. With all of these new iPods (stories covered by rooster) comes a new iTunes. Some of you might be wanting to upgrade to this version of iTunes. You should not. Even though iTunes 8.0 might seem really cool with it’s new “Genius” feature, it won’t be worth it for us jailbreakers. At least not yet. Since the WinPwn and Pwnage programs need to “pwn” iTunes for it to work, it needs to have the right codes for the right version. As of now, it won’t work with the new iTunes. If your iPod is already jailbroken, go ahead and update. If you haven’t yet and want to, stick with the old iTunes. I don’t want people crying to me for help when their iPods won’t jailbreak. I do not want to write another set of downgrading instructions.

UPDATE: A new version of iPod/iPhone firmware is out now. Do not update, as the same thing will happen as in the above paragraph

So be careful. Be patient. Be a jailbreaker.

Of course it happens. Right when I show how to jailbreak and hack a firmware, they come out with another firmware AND method.

For those of you familiar with ZiPhone and how easy it is to use, this method of jailbreaking is for you. It is called QuickPwn, and is pretty easy. It is still in beta testing stages, so I do not recommend using it yet and I will not post a link until I am sure it has the bugs worked out. Stay tuned for a video and a “Detailed Instructions” in the near future.

Also, firmware 2.0.2 has been released. Upgrading to this firmware will DELETE EVERYTHING that you have added if you have a jailbroken iPod/iPhone. I suggest not upgrading until a newer version of WinPwn or QuickPwn (when it is ready for public use) is released.

So there is an update with iTunes today. A new firmware, 1.1.5. is now available for the iPod Touch. What the heck is this? So far, I have heard that it is hackable. You do have to install FWChanger in Installer if you jailbreak to make the firmware “appear” to be 1.1.4. Does this update actually do anything? So far, no. I have not noticed any changes that actually occur with this update. Personally, I suggest not to update. Even though it costs no money, it just seems like a waste of time to do aat the moment. I will look into it and see why this was even released.

Ok, here’s what I gotta say. Listen up, pay attention, and you just might learn something.

I have tried out firmware 2.0. I may or may not have downloaded it from somewhere, but I am not allowed to POST where I got it (hint hint). I will be posting a more detailed look at 2.0 in the very near future. I will say this: it is not as good as a jailbroken 1.1.4. I DO NOT recommend upgrading. Live the hacker way. I think it is stupid to have to BUY apps. Just my linuxy opinion. PLUS, the apps weren’t all really special. I saw a few familiar names, some stupid and pointless ones, and some ridiculously expensive ones ($45!!!). But I digress.

Since rAawks left, I have been getting a lot of emails asking for help. Good job to those who listened and emailed me directly for help (LoneStag01@aim.com). For those of you who post IN ALL CAP LOCKS and are panicking because of a bug or glitch, PAY ATTENTION. Also, for those of you answer these distressed posters, I thank you. Good job. Keep up the good work.

How many people out there actually own an iPhone and show up to this site? How many own Macs? I am sorry to inform you that I own neither. I cannot tell you how many answers I had to look up on other sites because I owned neither. How many of you are on this site? Should I buy one? Would people donate (via PayPal) to my cause?Just curious.

Now onto the request part. I have already stated that I do not support updating to 2.0. It is not hackable yet, and it is very hard to return back to 1.1.4. If people do need instructions how to return, post on this article. If i get enough, I will write a “Detailed Instructions” article. Anyway, I need to know what you readers want to know. Do you want AppStore information? Do you want hacker information? Jailbreak progress? Thoughts? Descriptions of apps (Installer and AppStore)? Interviews with hackers (Zibri of ZiPhone?) Honestly, I need some ideas.

This site was created to help you.

Hello, I am The Lone Stag. Welcome to iPodTouchHacks.com.

How may I help you?
