I jailbroke my iPod touch through black rain. It worked for like a second but as soon as I installed winterboard it shut off and went back to the original screen and I had to restore it. What did I do wrong? Note my computer has windows vista.

I have recently received an unusually high amount of questions pertaining to the 2nd Gen. Jailbreak for the iPod Touch. So, I have decided to make a little Frequently Asked Questions Page to help you out.
Your questions, although there have been a lot of them, are all very similar. For any additional questions you can reach me at roosterhelp at gmail dot com
1. Question: I get an error when I try to jailbreak my iPod. What should I do? (95% of the questions I get)
Answer: I know this sounds shocking, but you probably just made a syntax error and should try again. Erase all the downloads and start the process all over. If the problem persists after three attempts, contact me and I’ll do my best to help you. Remember to follow the instructions precisely as they are told.
2. Question: For some reason I can’t Jailbreak my iPod on a Vista OS. Help!?
Answer: Unfortunately, Jailbreaking your iPod using Vista has led to the majority of legitimate problems. For some odd reason, a high number of vista users have experienced this problem. Although it works for the majority, a good amount of people have been having issues. I recommend posting your errors here.
3. Question: How do I put my iPod into DFU mode?
Answer: Device Firmware Update Mode is used to install any iPod Touch/iPhone firmware on to your device via the iTunes Shift-recovery method.
1. It is important to get into “DFU mode” and not “recovery mode”.
2. Open iTunes
3. Plug your iPod into your PC
4. Turn off your iPod
5. Hold down both the Home and the Power button for 10 seconds
6. Now let go off Power and keep holding the Home button for an additional 10 seconds
7. Your iPod should now disappear from iTunes.
4. Question: When I try to create the firmware it says there was an error creating the firmware! What do I do?
Answer: Restart your computer and re-download Quickfreedom. Then try again.
5. Question: I succeeded in Jailbreaking the iPod Touch but where can I find Cydia and Installer?
Answer: You can select to install both of these Apps while using Quickfreedom.

So to add to my last comment. I have a 3.1.3 MC model iPod touch 2nd gen 8GB. If I restore my iPod through iTunes can I use jailbreakme on my device; and still get all my songs, videos, and other stuff back on through iTunes? I just want to know if it’s really that easy?

i hate 4.0.2 if u buy something and its urs who the helll is apple to to stop u from jailbreaking i have a ipod touch 3g mc model running firmware 4.0.2 and there doesnt seem to be a way for me to jailbreak i cried and now am thinking of selling or hammering it to smitherines someone please help me am at my whits end

Hi, I have jailbroken my ipod 1.1.4 (4A102), 8gb out of which 2.3 gb is used for music. after jailbreaking with ziphone i noticed that the installer app is not installed. subsequently i tried again, message displayed as installation.app installed, but is still not showing on the ipod. can someone help on this

I have an ipod touch 3rd gen, ios 4.2.1. I tried to jailbreak my ipod touch by red snow but it’s failed 3 times (windows vista) i’ve checked the “run this program in compatibility mode in windows XP” box and ran it as the administrator, but it keeps closing the programme due to problems after the rebooting screen.

Ok I just found out about jailbreakme and now I find out that I can not use it on my IPod touch because I up dated the firmware. Weeeeeeeeeee. My question is by dont they up grade jailbreakme to work with this version it would be much easier then trying to down grading firmware.

I got everything down with the jailbreaking, and this may sound stupid, but it said that it couldnt jailbreak due to the firewall and to read the PDF of instructions, which it didnt come with. How do you unblock it? I went to the firewall thing in the control panel and it didn’t show the program. What do I do?

the jailbreak went great, bt when i restarted the itouch it is just powerfing off forlike 2 hrs now!! dont have a clue what to do, the keys arent working, so cant put in DFU mode either… pls help
