Requirements:

• Spirit Jailbreak Tool (Windows and Mac)
• iTunes 9.1.1
• iPod USB cable
• A iPad running device software version 3.2 or lower

1. Plug your device into your computer

2. If you want: back up your device to your iTunes library – this will ensure that if you do make an error, that you will not lose any data.

3. Run the Spirit jailbreaking program. It will open in a small window, and will display the message “iPad (3.2) Connected.” If it does not recognize your device, disconnect and reconnect your device, and open the tool again.

4. Click “Jailbreak”

Tip: After clicking jailbreak, it is best not to run any other programs.

5. A “Restore Complete” screen should pop up on your device. Next, the device will restart, display a spinning pinwheel icon, and open up a colorful screen like this, with a progress bar:

This whole process should only take about 30 seconds or so. Your device should then boot up to your home screen. Everything should appear the same, except for, of course, it is now jailbroken.

6. One thing that is immediately apparent is a new app on your home screen called Cydia, this you “jailbreakers only” app store. Think of it as an exclusive club.

Cydia will look a bit different on the iPad and iPhone or iPod Touch, but will contain most of the same software.

   It’s a terrifying thing to jailbreak ipad without the help of apple, just do it by yourselves. Actually, I trust in iTunes more than Cydia, which collected apps paid or free, even i will get an software of third party company on their online store, but not Cydia, if it’s an video converter I want to know who created it, ifunia or aneesoft and who can provide me after-sale service.

    yeah… I joke about how iPad is good for nothing —> doesn’t fit in my purse or knickers, but I SOOOO want one. Great to know spirit seems to get the job done. I can’t stand non-rooted / non-jailbroken devices locked to the vendor’s specifications. Give me my flexibility for this expensive paperweight kthx (( hence dd-wrt on my wifi router, etc. ))
