Many people have been emailing me about jailbreaking the 2nd generation iPod touch. Unfortunately, there’s no jailbreak out there YET! The dev team released the unlock for the iPhone 3G in the beginning of the year, which means that they were totally concentrating on that device. Now that it’s been unlocked, they are currently working on a something else. The word (which isn’t BIRD…sorry…Family Guy humor) is that it’s for the 2nd generation iPod touch currently named “redsn0w.” When this gets released, all iPod touch devices will be able to be jailbroken. We’ll keep you all informed with any news we hear! Hope all goes well!

   Guys, im new to jailbreaking, and only got my ipod touch 2g about 2 weeks ago, but i have been following this closely and yes the iphone dev team have jailbroken the 2g, but the reason they havnt released it is because they are experiencing some issues with iBoot. Once they patch that up THEN they are gonna release it, so not quite finished yet. But i am super excited, i’m still looking up all the awsome things ill be able to do.

   Thing is, for the exponential jailbreakage (note I didn’t say concave jailbreakage), force open your ARM7 on the touch. I’ve looked extensively at iBEC STFU bootrom loader codes – but no dice. My load address only bops 0×0904562342 – we know that default bop is 0×09000000. Perhaps downgrading the ARM7 to ARM6, while procuring simultaneous iBECing the STFU codes to rewire the iOMG components may cause an internal shortcharge – but more likely you’ll just reuptake the csu chip codes directly into the spread pattern dumpage – which is a very good thing!

   To speak more simply, all you gotta do is remasticate the 2g1c virtually (not a reverse hexdump though) into the component offered in the 3rd level sequence pattern found on the fly. Any 3rd grader with an ipod touch can do that in order to get jailbroken within 2 minutes – very simple stuff really.

    You can update the iPod 2g it’s only the iPhone 3g that cant be updated. A iPhone 3g with yellowsn0w on it cannot be updated or it will stop working.

    ok when you guuys reboot buy accented dont just restore to normalll u have to reapeat the number off how u boot up when u first jail brake it for example i downloaded winterboard and i clicked on reboot device you have to boot it up agian like u did the first time with CMD Command promot and copy the thing and do it agian and your device will boot up agian

    you have to make the steps again from which on you installed the patched IPSW and then you had to put in DFU mode and then uplaod 2 files right? No you have to repeat the Last two steps. The DFU mode step, and the 2 Files Upload step!! You daont have to install the IPSW again!

     yeah, the tethered jailbreak is great, but you NEED LIBUSB-32bit-filter driver installed, which is quite advanced shit and has INFINITE LOOP BSOD PROBLEMS WITH VISTA 32 AND 64 BIT… now it works, but LIBUSB hates usb hubs of any kind, and will BSOD ur pc in a vicious cycle if not installed perfectly

     only redsn0w lite has been released and it’s a teathered jailbreak.. so you need to hook the ipod to the computer to reboot it, and such.. it’s still very jailbroken, but it’s got a few strings attached, and it’s not for the average user… just wait for the next version of redsn0w which should be along soon now..

     just do the tethered boot its really not that bad…if you do it once youll see how easy it is. i reboot every couple days and it takes 2 minutes… all you gotta do is put it in dfu mode and type a few commands and bingo there you go. i bet untethered will take a while to come out
