It has been reported that the iPod Touch has been released at some of the Apple retail locations! Justin, one of our readers, has left a comment saying that he has picked up his iPod Touch. We will soon have a list of stores and states that have the iPod Touch for sale. If your local apple store has them available please leave a comment on where you are located. Also if they had the 16gb and/or 8gb.

We should maybe contact the dude(s) who purchased, opened, and booted his new toy. And maybe even find out if the iPhone hacks work “as is” for the Touch.

Just picked up a 16gb model from International Plaza in Tampa, FL
Tight. Try installing some apps if you can, or post some pics. Like that we can get a better idea of what we can potentially do (share with the community).
Also, I hope others can consult Greg on what he should check for, so we may get started on cracking this sucka!
Again, I’d love to see some pics, especially of the WiFi settings… see if it has automatic detect features.
Picked mine up at the Manhattan Apple Store. They said they had a “few” left. But it wasn’t out on the floor. They only told me because I asked about the release date.
Picked up a 16GB model as well. iPhone apps don’t seem to work for it, unfortunately. I’ve also did some n00bish attempts at poking around the firmware; same problem as the iPhone, except there aren’t any passwords laying around for me to try.
Got my 16g Ipod Touch from the Apple store in Bellevue, WA tonight. Supposedly they got about 20 in, but they kept them off the floor and only sold to those who asked for it.
I got mine in Danbury, CT. at the Danbury Fair Mall. They may be sold out though, I’m going again tomorrow to get one for my friend, but when i left they only had 8 left, at 6 PM.

picked a 16gb one up at the irvine spectrum in irvine, ca. looked they had a good 20-30 left. seems like the 16gb is the only out right now, great move on apples part, they will make that much more money from desperate people like me wanting to get one

Looked to me mostly 16GB models….sad to watch some folks trying to get $1000 for these on eBay.

They have them at best buy in evenston IL and at the apple store at old orchard in skokie IL

Got mine at the westfams mall apple store in ct. They had tons of both sizes, I picked up the 8 gb. I saw an article about some store getting it and figured id call the store and when i asked the guy said, “We most certainly do!” i went bout 5 hours later and they had at least 5 drawers full.
I received my iPod touch at UTC Mall in San Diego, they had 16GB and 8GB, they just received more today in the a.m.

They Will not hold one for you, unless it’s malfunctioned at no cause of your own, such as a “black negative screen issue” They happily exchanged it, and looks much better…also a tip….sense the cases for the iPod touch aren’t really out yet, I saw one that was pretty cool. “iSkin levo” is the stamp on back, so….I cut a thin layer of cardboard from a pretty this, remember it’s only a 3mm difference, and put it inside the rubber the case, then cut out a small hole in the card board where the case has a small window so as not to block the wifi antenna, it’s a little round circle that lets the wifi go “out” then, I cut the small cloth the ipod sits on so as not to get scratched, because with this case it’s no longer needed and hot glued it to the very thin card board cutout. then, after measuring carefully, I cut it all out with a new exacto blade, inserted into the case, and insert the ipod. The cardboard help to fill in the difference in thickness, and the iPod touch fits very snugly in the iPhone case. WooHoo, and when you buy on, only cut off the small tab down by the dock connector, leave the plastic film on the face and rear. It doesn’t affect the touch-ability at all, and will add extra prevention from scratches. all slots like headpone, and usb cable connector are visible (already cutout and easy to access). enjoy. it’s a couple mm taller, but just enough to not worry about, at all…can’t notice a thing. I couldn’t wait for a case, and didn’t want to pay shipping for another, I know I’ll frop this thing, now it’s protected.

Forget the apple stores. Best Buy has them available. yes best buy - but only some. I Got my mine from their online store for in store pick up just check their status by entering your zip code and hopefully at least one will have it. I got mine from the Best Buy Manassas, VA store.
