David Films bought his iPod Touch and when he opened it it was set on the diagnostic screen. He is currently selling his iPod Touch on ebay because he said he has no use for it. One thing we have learned from looking at the diagnostic screen is that it looks like it has bluetooth disabled but just having it there gives us hope that Apple did not take it out and eventually we can figure out how to enable it. We won’t know for sure until someone opens up their iPod Touch…

   Has anyone ever thought that maybe they are just using the iPhones diagnostic tool? i really doubt Apple would include bluetooth hardware without publicising it during the initial press release and trying to add a mark up for yet another extra feature.

   yeah, good point Daniel, I would have to say I agree with you there about using the iphone diagnostic tool , however apple have been known to do just that: release an item with a hidden feature in it, and later on release the firmware to activate the hidden feature. We need to remember that Apple released the ipod touch quickly, as a rushed decision, so they could have it on the market by christmas

   the iPhone and iPod touch both use the same software to run the device. We know the touch doesn’t have a speaker, and the picture shows it x’d out, along with the Bluetooth. Apple did not write a new os for the touch, so it just knows that it doesn’t have those components and it knows it. Thats all.

    I didn’t see anything that looked like a bluetooth circuit on my “friend’s” ipod touch 1g that I slaughtered in the huberistic manor of thinking I could fix it for him somehow.. Only possible spot seen was very near the little chunk of plastic that comes out separately of the chrome backing near the top..

    I would photograph it, but I was able to buff out the disaster the razor blade made of the exterior – trying to pry it open – just enough that the apple rep didn’t notice and exchanged it for me. Not likely to have BT, would be my opinion.

    iPod Touch (not iTouch, you ^&%**&^ morons) came out with 3.0 and only 2 gen and 3 gen have bluetooth, not 1 gen. (ME HAVE 2 GEN)
