There have been rumblings in the forums and comments about people mentioning errors and bugs on their iPod Touch. Do you have anything to report? Any error is helpful because it may just be that the iPod Touch is vulnerable at that point and hackers can focus on that area.

I was going to put this in the forums, but I suppose this will do.
When I play a song on my iPod Touch, open a page in Safari in landscape mode that is giant images and text when I scroll to the part that is two giant images only, and try to use my fingers to enlarge it (pinch expand) the song stops playing. I was thinking hopefully this is an exploitable bug, b/c at the very least its annoying
-
I’ve had three bugs:
1) It only happened once, but it lasted for two full days: after watching a bunch of youtube videos, the accelerometer quit working – the screen wouldn’t rotate in any program. After watching a video in my library (not youtube), it unfroze and started working normally.
2) Safari crash – this happened while trying to open one too many windows simultaneously. Large image files.
3) The music player doesn’t always keep track of where I’ve listened to in long podcasts. Often have to restart from the beginning of a podcast.
That’s all I can think of. Good luck!
-
Contact’s photos from Address Book are hit and miss Syncing to the iPod Touch. Half didn’t Sync – no rhyme or reason that I can figure out.
Anyone else having the same issue?
-
When I plug my iPod touch into my laptop, it automatically syncs up to iTunes. When I slide the slider on the iPod to cancel it from syncing, sometimes the cover art on my albums are changed into pictures of my videos. It’s weird!
-
Safari crashes on me quite a bit for no reason. So annoying.
-
I had a day yesterday where I counted at least 15 crashes within four hours
Music mainly, Whilst doing nothing else! A restart fixed this though..Main problems for me have been
Safari:
1) Safari crashing at random times.
2) Safari doesn’t load pages in the background, And sometimes will unload pages (Feature or bug I do not know, But i would be fine with the extra space used for it to cache websites to the flash instead of whatever ram it’s using)
3) Safari doesn’t remember passwords for websites, So handy and simple but not there.iPod OS
1) No landscape launcher (Springboard?) This makes life painful for me switching between things
2) No way to lock the accelerometer -
(Accidentally hit post)
Continued
2) Locking it would make it easier to say lie in bed, Or on the grass as i have done in the past few days without switching to album art mode
3) top bar is a waste of space, It shows me things yes but it’s wasting my precious screen space with no buttons or icons on it (Apart from wireless time music and battery)Music
1) Alzheimer’s, It crashes and forgets what i was listening to, Or sometimes will just revert a few artists back
2) How about we desenstise the bottom menu/ Hide it whilst i scroll, I keep pushing more or another view mode whilst scrolling, is a slight waste of space for me since i only use one mode
3) Option to flow onto next album/artist when playing through artist mode
4) Way to view longer names (Hold finger on name etc)
5) Once apps are released changeable bottom menu
YouTube
1) Landscape format, Way to view long names.
2) Login, I haven’t needed one yet but maybe I will one day.
3) Browse by category mode!?!?Thanks, This is what i’ve had with mine so far, As you can see I want a lot from my ipod, Most of these to me are just small bugs and features that were missed and could be patched with ease. Thanks apple!
-
OS:
Whilst charging it will tell you “20% remaining” etc as it climbs.. -
Ooop! here’s another, When typing in proxy port in the wfi settings we get a iPhone keypad!
If only apple loved us.
-
Two things have happened to me which may or may not be big.
1) I opened Safari after watching a movie that I uploaded and then shut it off. After rebooting i opened Safari and was about to browse the internet, the page loaded but i was unable to click on links, i could pinch (zoom +-, scroll) but i could not select a link to go to another page. I tried many pages by manually putting a url in but same result. Had to restart 2x and then it finally worked fine and has since.
2) More an iTunes issue and researched later but I uploaded all my songs and there has been about 30 songs that do not play on my iPod Touch but work on iTunes…..very frustrurating…
Thanks!

Add/Edit calendar functionality coming to the iPod touch?
Posted Oct 7th 2007 5:53AM by Conrad Quilty-Harper
Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video
Come on, you expect us to believe someone on a forum thread saying that Steve Jobs emailed him directly to say that they’d be adding a feature to one of Apple’s products? Well, if that’s all it takes, we’ll get to it next time. With the evidence being a screengrab of an email from “sjobs@apple.com,” David Jearly at the MacRumors forum claims to have definitive proof that the lack of user editing of calendars on the iPod touch is a “bug” that will be fixed in the next update. To us, the absence of an editing option is more than a simple bug, but if it’s getting added, then who cares why it wasn’t there in the first place. Of course, David Jearly’s gonna get himself well and truly stuck in the dunce corner if this doesn’t come to fruition.[Thanks, David and Mike]
-
I had trouble with the volume, which lasted until i did a reboot. While a song was playing, if I changed the volume the sound would become really scratchy and distorted.
-
While playing music in shuffle mode, songs have cut off in mid song. This has happed to me multiple times.
Also, when in cover flow view, the album artwork for several cds will change to an incorrect album cover when it moves to the main selection spot. This persists when I play the album.
Finally, safari crashes almost every time I go to espn.com or cnn.com.
-
I have also noticed the problem with shuffle mode. I would shuffle fine and it would either cut off mid song, or freeze when loading a song. It seems random as to when it does it, but I didn’t notice it until the battery got down to 20%.
I have also noticed that one of the videos that I had converted and put on the Touch suddenly got corrupted and wouldn’t play. It played fine for a couple of days, but wouldn’t load out of the blue one day.
-
I have noticed the same error when playing in shuffle mode. It would either freeze mid song, or freeze when loading a new song. I hadn’t noticed this problem until today when the battery dropped below 20%. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but I thought I would mention it anyways.
I also had one of the videos I had converted and put on the Touch suddenly corrupt and not play after a couple of days. It was about the same time that the random song freezing started.
-
Oops, sorry about the double post. It froze the first time when I hit submit and I thought it never posted.
-
Corrupt videos:
Some that i have converted have come without sound!
Maybe due to my videos being quicktime ones from the web / Not payed for?
No error though.. -
The video playback does not notice when the video is flagged as being 16:9.
Result is most of my videos feature tall thin people
-
24 hour clock doesn’t work on UK settings (only US)
-
Appoints imported from Outlook are a day early.
The time zone on Outlook is GMT so is the one on the iTouch -
My accelerometer delays sometimes, but otherwise my Ipod is Perfect, no problems, nothing like what you guys are saying, and no screen issues either (other website complaints)
-
SOOO many problems
first of all.. when I type the ipod doesn’t type the letters I want it to or click on the things I want it to.. (only on a good day it will do what I want it to)
Sometimes the ipod just spazzes out and does whatever it wants..usually it opens calculator and types 2’s and 5’s and other random things.
I’ve had to restore my ipod 3 times and now it just won’t restore at all..it just keeps freezing and saying unable to restore.
I think I just got one of the bad ones
-
problems that i’ve encountered so far
1) safari crashing on me twice within an hour
2) if i’m listening to a song and try to go through the cover flow, the song stops and go to home screen. this also occurs when i try to look at songs/albums/artists.
*this problem was solved when i resetted my settings (only the ipod settings; not the music)3)at times it is slow from getting to page to page
i really think the key to stop it acting up is just to reset it… it is still quite annoying though
-
The problem i keep getting is, when the battery runs low, the date resets to the first date i put in
-
Bugs I’ve seen:
1) When playing songs and browsing in Safari, randomly the music will stop playing.
2) Sometimes when browsing and you click to scroll the page, it will quit and just go back to the main screenMore of a feature request than a bug:
1) When in a playlist and I switch to coverflow, it shows all album covers. Shouldn’t it just show the albums in the playlist like it does in iTunes?
-
Actually as it’s playing today, here’s another bug:
1) Music just stops randomly when playing music. This has happened at least seven times today. Not in Safari, not in another app, just playing music. It might be playing for 10 mins, or 30 mins, or 42 mins, it just stops. I have to go back and find the playlist it was playing because it reverts to a previous playlist I was on earlier in the day.
-
Hey guys,
I am thinkin of buyin an ipod touch… but lookin at ths page has scared the shit outta me… do these bugs occur… say once in a while… or is it an everyday occurrence? -
I’m having this bug:
My iPod skips music on its own. it plays the first 5 or 6 seconds then skips to the other song. Sometimes it skips 3 or 4 songs one by one all by its own. this is happening to multiple albums. only way to overcome this is to scroll through the music manually.
This is really frustrating…..
-
I am also having problems when playing songs and viewing sites with Safari. The song will just cut off and stop. I could be playing music for 30 mins with no problems and other times it does it dozens of times within 30 mins etc. Very annoying grrr. UK 16gb touch.
-
Update: My iPod touch was getting more and more buggy so I reset all settings (Settings: General: Reset: Reset All Settings) and it works fine now. No stopping in the middle of playing music, etc.
To: Archana, despite the problems I was having this week, I still love my iPod Touch. So easy to use, interface is good, I use Safari a lot, watch videos when my wife is shopping, etc. It could be better, but it’s still far an above my four year old 3rd Gen iPod.
-
It forgets which podcasts I’ve listened to and where I’d got to in the one I’m listening to when I turn it off and on again.
It often comes on with a soft reboot rather than just turning on.
And this is my second one. The first went back to the shop – it died within 2 hours.
-
My iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes if iPhoto is open, i gave to close it first for it to be recognized…strange!
-
Safari crashes if I use Yahoo finance page type in a stock to look up. Every time over and over, the screen goes black and I go back to the desktop menu.
-
I constantly have to reset the date and time. It’s fine until it syncs, then it changes to the incorrect date and time and I have to start all over.
-
I am having the same issue as Ron. Everytime I plug the ipod in to sync I have to reset the date/time.
-
i watched some videos on youtube and the controls started comming up on there own. Then the screen thought i was touching it and it started doin all kinds of stuff like pausing bookmarking skipping. I tried restoring my ipod multiple times but the error still happens. Also sometimes at my home menu, ussualy after the error in youtube, I go back to the home menu and no matter what aplication i open it opens up the calculator. This goes away after about 15 seconds but still this is just ridiculous. Mainly because this is my second ipod touch, my first one stopped starting up.
-
I have the same problem that both Brett and Ron are reporting. Every time I sync my iTouch with iTunes, the time/date reset themselves. After syncing, I have to set time and date to the correct settings. Rather annoying but I still love my iTouch and wouldn’t give it up!
-
After I delete videos from within the ipod touch, somehow those video’s keep reappearing in my list of available videos. When I click on one to play, it crashes and goes to the main screen. I then have to redelete the video again.
-
The time keeps switching back to some unknown zone, very odd.
-
The cut off songs in shuffle mode is the biggest problem with my touch.
It appeared to to do it to the same songs, in the same place, so I thought it might have been corrupted files. But after a complete wipe and resync, it still happens. -
-sometimes my song wont scan forward, and i cant drag them forward either
-My iPod (or maybe it was iTunes?) went through a stage when it wouldnt sync photos
when viewing a photo after double tapping (the music controls come up) i cant go next
-My alarm clock dosnt make any sound
-safari shuts itself
-THE MOST ANNOYING!- it mixes up my album art, so most of my music has the wrong album art
i dont no if its just me or if other people feel the same, but for a premium music player, simple clicking noises not only clash with price tag but dont meet the standards of owners who have just forked out AU$549.00 on a music player with a speaker (or watever it is) that can only make limited noises that you would expect on a children’s toy.

How will i connect through Wi-F connection?
what is the proedure. i got net connection in my computer.
How to connect from Wi-Fi to system -
Just wanted to point out that I bought an iPod Touch last weekend and within a couple days it started the “reset” while playing music that is mentioned above. Like some others it seems to be tied to turning the iPod to landscape orientation. So I returned it yesterday for another. Experiencing the issue with the new one. This one is going back too. And I am done with the Touch until at least 2G. I am bitterly disappointed. This is my first Apple “anything” and I was really hoping to get away from the types of experiences I’ve had for 20 years with Microsoft. I guess every company puts stuff out before it’s good to go.
-
i just got mine today and the only problem ive had is with the accelerometer. it wouldnt work when i first opened it and registered it, then after mabey ten minuets of playing with it it started to work but now it wont any more
-
my ipod touch its volume will not turn on This is a spaaz but i still like it
-
I’m returning my iPod touch today for a new one because mine encounters numerous bugs and that is not okay. I play some music and it just stops playing and restarts the song. I just bought a video for it over iTunes and my touch crashes after reaching 38 minutes and 9 seconds every time. I can skip over that part and it plays fine. But the I reset the touch and now it does it even more often during the video (Zoolander)
-

I have had problems with video playback on my Ipod Touch. Apple forums have quite a few threads concerning ipod touch/windows Vista and video crashes. Basically converted DVDs and stuff bought from Itunes will play until the sound gets garbled, then crash to the menu. If you resynch the videos, they crash at different spots (but same spots until re-synched again). So far, the consensus is it is a touch/vista problem – so if you only have a Vista machine, I’d wait to buy a Touch.
And actually, since Apple hasn’t even addressed the issue or commented on it, PLUS they charged 20$ for early adopters to get new apps on the darn thing … I’d buy something from a competitor who cares a little more about their customers than Apple seems to. -
If I want to choose a song from my library I cant because when I touch a song it wont open. Also I cant open videos or open photos which is reay really annoying.
-
Had the same problem as Joe still have it i’ll try doing the resetting thing like you did i’ll update and see what happens
-
update: thnx Joe it works, i was on the bus today listening to it with my friend it must have restarted 1,000,000 times every song i put on =[ but now it looks like it’s fixed thnx
-
Wow. I wanted to get a touch but it looks like I may change my mind. I wanted to turn to the Touch because on my classic, some songs wouldnt play all the way. They would just go on. So maybe I shouldn’t get the touch?
-
I had my iTouch set to shuffle, then i plugged the headdphones, the music supposed to stop, but after a good 20 min, i heard some noise and it turns otu my iTouch is playing a playlist instead of sshuffle anyone else had the same problem?
-
I can be listening to my music and all of sudden there is a pause in the song. The song then stops playing and goes to the main menu. At first I thought it was the song but I go back to playing that song and it works. It does this after listening to three songs in a row.
-
My Fiancee is having the same 3 song issue, this is on the new 32 Gig with all the latest firmware updates. Any suggestions?
-
Hey there, i have just got an ipod touch without the software updates however i cant seem to get the coverflow to work at all. it doesn’t switch the screen around on the music or pictures and it hasnt worked so far.. any help would be appreciated. Peace.
-
Hay all. My I am having a problem with tracks stopping and going to the next song. i took it back and got a new one Thursday and this evening I’m listening at dinner and it happens again. I bought an album today at the i store and it did it again. I really don’t know what to do now because I don’t want a 500$ f—in gift card. apple corp. sucks!! I would be greatful for any feedback
-
if it resets time, its a vista/win thing. its b/c vista went into sleep mode while itunes was open. now if your computer wakes up and you plug in your ipod it will change date and time, i know, awesome!!! solution: no sleep mode close and reopen itunes before plugging in the touch or close itunes before windows goes to sleep.
-
my frustraion is the skipping, does the ipod not like the song i’m listening to? what a pain, then you have to go back and fast foward, my favorite way to listen to music. i paid 550 for what? i’m not happy, if it worked properly it would be the best ipod ever, that’s a big if. i’m on my 3rd touch (had to return two already) i may just give up and wait for the second gen.
-
Okay, random song stopping. All podcasts download with the “skip when shuffle” switch on. If they get caught up in a playlist, they’ll stop the sound. This may be the answer to most of your stopping problems. Just select all podcasts, get info, and set “skip when shuffling” to “no”. Also make sure all songs that get into playlists are checked. unchecked songs will stop a playlist.
I came here because my Touch just started doing the time thing. It may be a bug in the latest OS release.
And for those who are panicked about all these problems, please try to remember that this is an open, public forum that has specifically asked for bugs. I love my pod, and would still get it if I knew it had some of these issues.
Also, keep in mind that some of these people have hacked into their devices (jailbreaking) to allow more applications to get installed. If you see anything that references Microsoft products (outlook, et al), they’ve specifically broken their pod to make that happen. Caveat Emptor.
And finally, a LOT of these people need to poke around their settings. For example, podcsts have another option right next to the skip when shuffling that allows them to have their last play position remembered. So, those people who “have to start from the beginning” haven’t looked at their podcast options.
-
I just got a 32 g iPod Touch a couple days ago, and I am posting this from it. Only a couple problems here there, been very smooth for me. My only problems are random Safari crashes, Youtube.app freezes, (The sound actually skips and stays there. It’s pretty crazy.) But anyways, other than that I haven’t had any other problems.

I returned my first 32gig ipod one due to it crashing during mail, safari, coverflow and random music drop-outs. Every time going back to the home screen. So annoying. Making a playlist on the go was impossible! urghhh!.
The Apple service reports states “faulty home button”
Apple then gave me a brand new one, and yep, still doing it. Not as much as my first ipod, but still wont make an on-the-go playlist while playing a song. I’m thinking the software on all the ipods is dodgy and they’ll update soon to fix all these bugs. -
My husband got me an Ipod touch the first week of March. It worked fine at first, but I took it back and traded it yesterday. Most of the issues that everyone else talked about. Mostly it wouldn’t rotate all the time and it kept saying Safari couldn’t open the page because it couldn’t find the server. I’m sitting right next to router and it had a full signal showing on the screen.
The new one is worse than the one I had in the first place. It’s really dissapointing. I had never had an Ipod before and I thought it was neat that you could get on the internet with something so small. For the money you think it would be better than that. I have never bought something like this and been so dissapointed. Now I will have to take the new one back. I sure don’t want another one. It’s so annoying to try and get it to work.
Good luck everyone -
every time i am on safari on a web site it automatically goes back to the homescreen it is soooo annoying
-
I’ve had my iPod touch for about a week now, and the only problem I have noticed with it is that yesterday and today it spontaneously reset on me in the middle of playing in iPod mode. Other than that it’s been amazing. I’ve been trying to find other cases of this happening to people but I’ve only found one other forum so far where they’re discussing this problem. The solution seems to be to just give it a daily reset. Hopefully the next firmware upgrade takes care of this.
-
I have just had this problem, and it won’t fix itself. Last night I went into Notes and made a new note, and when I was done I held down the power button to turn it off. 5 seconds later, the off slider still hadn’t come up. So then I tried going back to the home screen and my iPod Notes froze up.
The weird thing is that my ipod will still play music, because when it is asleep I can do the home button twice and the music controls will come up… but that’s about it.
-
Every time I open up settings (I downloaded extended prefs through installer) it crashes.
-
In shuffle mode, the music stops and goes back to the main menu. The same sometimes happens when 2-3 windows are open with Safari.
Once, the ipod would not turn on and it was fully charged, until I plugged it into my laptop, then it began working again. -
I was showing my new 32gb Ipod touch to my sister, then put it to sleep, when I try to turn it on again it is totally unresponsive. I knew it had plenty of battery left becasue it was on full charge a few hours ago and wifi had been of. I may have listed to 20-30 songs between charging it and putting it to sleep.
I tried connecting it to my wall charger – no joy so I connect it to my computer and it turns out the ipod is corrupted an needs to be restored. How the hell can it be working normally one minute and corrupt the next? It’s not like it was improperly disconnected from my pc or anything.
I am now very concerned as to the quality and lastability of the ipod touch.
-
I just bought a 32gig touch yesterday and some of my music skips. It’ll play for a while then you will hear no sound, next thing you know it has skipped to another song.
What can I do???
-
Got a 16Gb Itouch from Sam’s Club. 4 days later all the music, tv shows and movies disappeared. When I got home plugged it in and found the “Other” category was the only category that had content. It was the same size as had previously been the entire content of the music, tv shows and movie files combined. I could not open the “Other” category to see the files so I did a reset and synched it up again. Two days later a repeat disappearance of the all my content so I did another reset and synched the data. I returned it to Sam’s.
Two weeks ago I was at Best Buy. Salesperson said the 32Gb had updated software and they did not have any problems with the 32Gb model. I picked one up and loved it because it was the perfect size for my kids movies, music and tv show library. Flew several hours away without laptop, charged itouch using my friends mac. No problem the first charge. The second charge all the content disappeared again. Not cool two days into a 10 day trip.
Returned it to Best Buy. The cs rep said he had the same problem but just lived with it. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m going to hold off on itouch until the second gen. Hopefully the rumor of a June date for the next release is true. -
I have had the 32gb a while, and still have the same issues with the music that skips, or the video that when playing, the sound will stop and then it will automatically go back to the video home screen and you have to start the video over again. The key is if you press the main button to go back to the home screen as soon as the sound cuts out, then restart your video it will start where it left off. Not a good solution, but at least gets you through the video without having it start at the beginning and trying to find your place.
I use Vista on my computer, but have tried downloading from by laptop with XP, wiping the ipod, and have all the updated software and it stll does the same thing. Keep hoping that one of the upgrades will finally fix these issues, but still love the Touch and will continue to deal with the issues till they get them fixed.
-
I have just purchased 2 8 gb ipod touches and loved them until the past few days my wife and my self are having problems when trying to watch any youtube video the video will pause itself at least 20 times in a video and it drives me nuts. can someone help me with this I have tried a upgrade and restore and nothing seems to help it what to do?
-
I just got a 32 gig I touch on may the 21st, and its now the 25th, and Im having the worst problems with it. first off it stays frozen and I have repeatedly restored it and its just frozen on the slide to unlock and i can’t even turn it off. when I push the power button the slide to turn off thing comes out but I can’t slide to turn it off. I try to touch the screen and it still doesnt move. I was very happy to get it and now Im just disappointed, I’ve decided to take it back to best buy and either get my money back or have it exchanged for the 80 gig zune. my brother has a 30 gig zune and he has dropped it so many times and it still works,

I have figured out a pattern with the random stopping / skipping problem with music on iPod Touch.
Interesting to hear if anyone else noticed the same pattern:At least on my 16GB iPod touch, the skipping only happens to mp3’s encoded with the VBR (variable bit rate) option. Of these files about one in four or five are affected, and the skipping is not random: when the song gets to some particular point (which can be anywhere, depending on the file), it always gets stuck for a few seconds and then skips to the end of the file. If I manually fast forward over the skipping point then it plays fine until the end. [yes I tried restoring etc, nothing helps]
These same mp3s play fine on iTunes and on my 1st gen Nano, even after re-importing so it’s not file corruption. Re-ripping the same track with iTunes also fixes the problem. But I don’t want to rerip most of my library so, as much as I like the Touch in every other way, as it can’t do its most important job I’m returning it before the 30-day period is over and switching back to the good ol Nano. Sigh.
-
I have the same problem as Marco with my brand new iPod Touch. The song will stop, and then skip to the end. Manually scrolling over the trouble area allows it to continue playing. However, mine also introduces odd audio “dings” into some songs, which are not present in iTunes, and never appeared on my 1st gen Nano. Interestingly, deleting and then resynching the song fixes the issues (for those songs, at least).
-
marco
Continued from my June 10 posting… I just tried the same mp3’s on a friend’s iPod Touch, and they skip at the same points. Same files play ok when synced to old iPod nanos.
So it’s official. Skipping is a general problem with iPod Touch. This is something a firmware update could fix. Too late for me.
Bottom line: beware buying iPod Touch if you plan on using VBR mp3’s. No help if they play on your old iPod.
-
i’ve had a problem with my ipod touch since the day i got it. it works fine for a little while but after playing music or watching movies or using safari, the applications stop working, it wont play music and if i try to force shut it off and turn it back on it stays stuck on the apple logo at the loading screen i’ve restored it countless times and updated it’s software but the problem persists. it is the most inconvenient personal media device i have ever owned. apple really should take more time on perfecting the quality of their products and a little less time coming out with the latest and most innovative product. because its bad for their rep. that amost every one of their products have some sort of bug or defect to it to the point that people are just sick of apple products. i know im gettting to that point.
-
on occasion, it froze on me. other times, when looking through the album art cover flow mode, it showed the wrong covers. (for tha carter 3 it had a picture of the art of drowning and other such instances). other times, i try to clear my history and cache and everything but it is still there.
overall, it’s been pretty good.

HELP
everytime i watch a movie on my ipod touch it works for 10 20 mins but then it turns off and i can see the apple sign. it also happens when i go on to watch in BBC iplayersomebody help me!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I purchased an Ipod Touch 32gig, and loved it, for about a day, when out of the blue i powered it off and when i went to turn it back on it would not work at all. i plugged it into my computer and then itunes told me it was in restore mode and needed to have a software re-install done. I thought to myself, maybe its just a bug, so i did the latest update and since then it has worked fine, for about 2 weeks, until yesterday when i gave it to a friend to look at and it did exactly the same thing. I have no idea how to fix this problem now, and the only pattern i can see is that its a problem only on the 32 gig models, any help or ideas would be grateful!?

Alright, my bug for my Ipod Touch. I will be listening to music and it will just randomly stop in the middle of the song and jump to the home screen. After awhile, it won’t even let me go to any other screen, but for maybe a second or 2. I figured out, that if I let it die every couple of days, that it won’t do this as much. But its such a hassle wait for it to die… especially when it gets into the mode where I can’t do ANYTHING!!! Another person on here, said she had to reset the settings, but not to where her music and data was erased.

i have one:
my ipod doesnt charge! & its always syncing when its plugged it.
it says its charging & it starts syncing.
then it stops charging out of nowhere,
then a couple minuets later (still plugged in)
it starts sycning again & says its charging-
then everything repeats itself. -
the reason why the iPod touch crashes while playing music is either because your are loading too many pages on safari or the song your playing is under 100kbps. The iPod touch only plays songs over 100kbs and may crash at the begining of a song or sometime in the middle. Mostly it will crash at the begining but it sometimes will crash in the middle or at the end. The reason why it doesn’t crash on your computer is because the computer can play song with much lower Kbps .
Solution: find the song that crashes and download the version that has a Kbps higher than 100, (usually 192) and use that one instead. There is no actual way to fix the old song but this will ensure that your song SHOULD not crash. Your welcome

Please help. This sounds like a really stupid question but I cannot figure out how to turn a song off if I don’t want to listen to it anymore (iPod mode). There is a pause button and I have been using that but I’m not sure if it’s running my battery down. The video mode actually has a “done” button at the top to end the video. 16g – new software.

I bought a new iPod Touch three days ago. It has been flawless until today; today I took it to the office and had trouble connecting to the WiFi network there. After several failed attempts, I tried to reboot; after powering off, it seemed dead — the screen was black and it didn’t respond to the buttons any more. Eventually I tried connecting it to my Mac; that didn’t do anything, either, but when I disconnected the cable, the iPT finally rebooted.
The same thing happened again a short while later. It seems that the iPT is allergic to the WiFi router here at work… Hopefully there will be a firmware upgrade for this soon.
FWIW, mine has version 2.1.1 5F138.
(Perhaps also worth mentioning that I have also used a bunch of iPhones here at the office, and never had any WiFi problems with them.) -
My iPod Touch has just decided that it will not allow me back to the main menu from the music section. When I press the menu button a window appears that contains; the track name, the play button, next track/last track buttons, volume slide control, and a “close” button and a “music”. Pressing the close just closes the window and pressing the music goes back to the album cover play screen. I can’t turn it off either, so I’m stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well im not sure if this problem has been covered yet but oh well….
basically when my ipod touch freezes is when it appearently has low battary but the battery meter is near mid metter for that and then when i play a song, it would stop just anywhere and the ipod would freeze. like completely, couldnt turn it off… the only way was to hold and press the home button and the on/off button… well before that happened… this maybe sorta stupid but i tryed to charge my ipod touch through a electricity outlet to the head phones… didnt work but it left me an intresting of green doted lines runing down the screen… and that time it as well had a complete crash where you cant turn it off only by conecting it to the computer -
I got my first iPod touch in July, and I figured out that my computer would not recognize it unless I turned it off and then hooked it up. This didn’t seem like a big deal, but I took it to the apple store and got it exchanged. Now I am on my second iPod touch and it was perfect until I updated the firmware on it. It seems that wheneve my iPod gets below a 20% battery level, it refuses to charge. It charges normally until the 20% battery wArning appears. So basically I cannot let my iPod get below 20% or else I have to restore it everytime just so it can charge. It pisses me off.

there is this annoying, thin, white line that runs horizontally across my screen that flickers on and off near the bottom where the dock is. i’ve tried restarting it and uninstalling my skins, but it just doesnt go away.
-
With my touch, I’ve noticed that everytime its been switched off, the date and time changes itself to something totally random, and its really annoying me.
I dont want to fry the battery by keeping it on and charging it all day its not in use, but the battery may need to be sacrificed for my sanity…driving me nuts
-
i open a app on my touch it goes to the menu for 3secs then boots me back to the main screen any ideas how stop this from happing?
-
Whenever a song finishes, it doesnt change to the next one. I can’t find a repeat option in the settings, so I have no idea what to do about it. It’s quite annoying.
Also, there seems to be no sleep timer. Anyone else having these problems? I need help.

Safari crashes every day, background won’t change (when logging in, it won’t change from Bart simpson to anything else!) and the sound effects still play even thought turned off.
-

-
I’m listening to my music and mid song it cuts off!! It’s really starting to piss me off!!!!!!!! Helppp!
-
Ugh. i was just listening to my songs for about 3 minutes then i took it out of my pocket and checked the song, i saw the battery was half full. When i started the song it will a little below full battery. Later on i charged my ipod and checked if the problem would accure again, i listened to my ipod for about a hour then there was no problem. So then i turned it on stand by and went to do my chores. I later turned on my ipod and listened to it for about 10 minutes. I noticed that it just went from a 3/4 battery to a half battery. If anyone has the same problem please leave a comment and tell me what i should do to fix it.

Today I’ve discovered that appointments MADE in iCal on my iPod Touch (latest system software) DISAPPEAR after synchronisation by iTunes.
VERY BAD BUG!!!! -
For the past two days, everytime I connect my iPod Touch it disconnects. It really pisses me off.
If anyone can help me, this is the website where I have posted the full problem:
-
i keep resetting the darn thing using itunes because the friggin music player won’t start. it keeps stopping and crashing when downloading tracks using the builtin itunes and if i fill it to more than 60% of its memory, the music player gets totally unusable.
for me, the 32gb model isnt worth the extra money. what use is there for all the flash space when the device stops working if you use it?
i am starting to really hate that thing.

one day i was at the mall.i was going to play an app cause i got bored.but when i got to my homescreen after i put my password in whenever i would touch something it wouldnt do anything.any suggestions?
-
i’ve had the same problem with comment 74
and apple didn’t do a damn thing about it.
i even paid for the shipping to apple for them to “fix” it
$30 down the drain because in the same day of getting it back it was still messed up…but my ipod doesn’t even stay connected to the computer good
i connect it and a minute late it disconnects without warning
then connects again repeatedly
and my friends ipod connects perfectly with no bugs (that i know of) to the same computeri told apple this and they acted like they had no clue
sucks when suck a great product has very annoying bugs….
sucks more when the company of the item don’t know how to fix it and acts dumbfounded about the bug…i know i wont be buiyng the iPhone anytime soon
-
From post 111
i managed to semi fix the “staying connected problem”
one day i plugged in the ipod and it connected…. i knew it was going to disconnect so i turned it off and back on and…tada! no problems with the connection
and i always now make sure i press the eject button (so music wont be erased)
and so far its been pretty fine
before it was such a hassle because of the connection that i’d just pull the cord because the ipod woudn’t show up in itunes (then i realized that kills the itunes DBso far so good
but a bad bug indeed!

Ok I have this problem,of course buuuut:
When I plug my touch up to my laptop(or any other computer for that matter)
It shows the screen where its black and then has one picture of the ITunes icon with the charger and an arrow pointing to it???
I have ITunes and I’ve plugged it up to it many times and it doesn’t work.
I NEEEEEEED my music and internet!!!! -
Something strange happened to me, I was playing tap tap revenge 2 and the song was loading, suddenly my ipod touch turned off and I could not turn it on for 20 minutes, dont know what happened
-
I set a volume limit on my second-generation iPod touch and locked it with a passcode, then used the “Reset All Settings” option. When I returned to the volume limit screen, the slider was at its maximum setting. However, the lock was still set. Children can bypass the volume limit set set by their parents by simply resetting the iPod’s settings!
Resetting the iPod’s settings should not reset the volume limit when a passcode has been set. The only way to reset the volume limit should be to either enter the correct passcode or restore the iPod.

Alright, so this is a minor bug that HAS been fixed (sort of). I’m listening to music and my Ipod has a password. I unlock to place the password and when I hit the numbers, the regular dots don’t show up.. I tried again and again, then decided to shut it off. When I do, the slider doesn’t appear, and when I let go of the button, it just locks. I plugged it into my charger and it wouldn’t unlock, and the computer didn’t recognize it when I plugged it in (the Ipod didn’t recognize it was plugged in either). I pushed the lock and home buttons, and that seemed to shut it off.
I let go, turned it on after a few moments and everything was ok. Still, if this happens again, I’d like to know
-
ok so heres what happeneed. i was listening to music last night (for you by staind) and making an on the go playlist directly from my ipod(not even plugged into a computer) and then my music stopped playing and took me to the hhome screen so i went to my music and its telling me i have no content. even though i have no content i tried accesing my playlists and everytime i do that it takes me to the home screen. for any dumbasses that did not understand this to put into simpler terms it randomly erased itself…..

welll, i upgraded my ipod touch online itunes paying for it etc. (up to 3.0)
i pretty much only did this for the apps
i then went and bought a lotttt of aps
put them all on my ipod all going welll
went to play a game, and everytime i click the game,
i opens the start up picture,
and returns to the home screen
the amount of money i have spent.
it’s really annoying/frustrating that this has not worked
should i go see an apple person?
there normally so rude and clueless.
i would send it off but it’s such a scam
any advice?
please please feel free to email me!!!

My ipod touch with 2.2v software crashes about 5-10 times a day.
It usually happens during music playback when trying to unlock the screen and the crash usually happens when transitioning from landscape album art flow mode to potrait music player mode.
The screen freezes and the unit becomes unresponsive but music playback continues for about 5mins before the music app shuts down (probably due to a watchdog timeout which monitors thread status). After that the unit becomes responsive again. -
My ipod touch 2nd gen keeps freezing or it will just restart on its own. but when the apple symbol comes up when its restarting crazy stuff appears. September 28, 2009
I opened up the music player on my 2nd gen iPod Touch and my music played for 3-5 sec then it stopped. It said that it was updating my library (note: it was not pluged in to the comp. or any other device at an point), when it finished then all my music and movies (excluding video podcasts) disappearred. Everything else was fine my apps were there and also my pics, but it still showed in the systems menu that the memory was still used up by what used to be my msic and movies.

This is my 3rd IPOD. I was really excited when my husband got it for me just before labor day but I am not thrilled with it.
Randomly when I am listening to music or using an app it either shuts off entirely or returns to the main menu. Also, sometimes when I try to scroll through the albums it freezes and wont let me move. I wish I could take this thing back to be fixed!
Before I started having these issues I bought my husband the 64 gig IPOD touch. He hasnt had any of these issues with him.

My iPod has been doing something very odd for the past few days.
If I try to change a song by using the small pop-up menu when you double tap home (When it says ‘Slide to unlock’ you can double tap and the back / play / forward buttons will appear) so I don’t have to unlock it and go into my music every time I feel like skipping a song. Whenever I try skipping over 2 songs, it’ll just stop playing music and the play controls stop working. Once I get back into the music menu, it doesn’t load properly and ‘Videos’ is a tab beside ‘Songs’ (The ‘More’ tab is gone. Though going back to home fixes the loading glitch).
Next, I have it password locked and if I try unlocking it the entire screen will load black except the time and battery at the top, and pressing home/power button wont fix it. I shut it off or wait for the screen to turn off and try again.
Finally, my apps are barely usable now. If I’m trying to watch a YouTube video or play a game, the app will simply ‘crash’ and it closes and goes back to the home screen. It does this nearly every time I try accessing any app. Only Safari will remain long enough for it to be usable.
This is really starting to get annoying! Would restoring my settings, or upgrade software, fix this problem? Will anything?
