iLounge has reported that people familiar with the upcoming iPod Touch and iPhone SDK have said there will be restrictions on where you buy things made with the SDK (iTunes), what applications will be bought and sold and also that there will be no connectivity with accessories.
This shouldn’t be all that surprising because this is apple we are taking about. They won’t let the music industry have their way so it was unlikely to give 3rd party developers a free ride. The SDK will be coming out in beta (incomplete version) on March 6th. The event will have selected media (where’s my invite apple?), analysts, and developers. The final version of the SDK is rumored to come out in June during the Worldwide Developers Conference event in San Francisco.
It looks like developers who don’t want to go through Apple and iTunes will still have a large market to sell (or give) their products to because of all the jailbroken iPod Touch and iPhones….I am thinking about setting up a little marketplace on this site for developers to sell (or give) their applications, what do you think?
Also let me know in the comments if you are interested in getting this idea off the ground. (Developers, Ideas)…
