  2. seraphrevan, December 2, 2007:

    Mail hangs for me.

  3. Ken Velox, December 2, 2007:

It worked fine for me. I first tried the 1.1.2 version, but it didn’t work, so I tried the 1.1.1 instead, and it worked fine. Remember to install the prep software first.

  4. Thomas, December 11, 2007:

hey after you instal all the packages do you upgrde back to 1.12?

  5. Scott, December 14, 2007:

Yes, you can update back to 1.1.2, but make sure you install oktoprep first.

    See here:

“Preps” are the applications you first need to install before you install the iPhone apps, such as MailPrep and MapsPrep.

  7. Josh, December 20, 2007:

Where do you find the preps!?

  8. Scott, December 21, 2007:

When you go to jailbreakme.com on your iPod, it will install the AppSnapp installer on your iPod. The preps are available as an application that you first install within the AppSnapp installer. Once they are installed, you can then install the regular application.

Worked a treat for me, with a UK Itouch. The instructions are a bit confusing, so basically:-

Once you have a jailbreaked I touch go into installer, click on sources then edit and then add to enter the web address given. When you click ok this will add more options to your install list. Go to install and scroll down the new folder either iPhone 1.1.1 Apps or iPhone 1.1.2 Apps, open the folder and install the last two files in the folder which are the preps for maps and mail. Then install the other files in the folder (as you install them they disappear from the folder). Job done, why Apple chose to exclude these from the touch is beyone me, except of course they would rather sell more iphones with a tasty percentage on the contract.

Robert, thx for the summary instructions. Worked perfectly. The mail and map apps are pretty sweet. Also love the LastFM app.

    Hi

I have succesfully jailbroken the ipod touch and installed all the iphone apps but I’m having real difficulty making mail work. I have a pop account in the uk for BT I enter all the correct info but I keep getting the message “cannot connect using ssl”

I just can’t seem to be able to save any account information, I just get this message and can’t get passed it.

Does anyone out there have any idea’s how I can get passed this. I have all the other applications working…why Apple decided to exclude us touch users is beyond me!!

    Please help

    Kevin

I have Windows XP and wanting to get an ipod touch. If i download this ‘1.1.1 firmware’ thing, can i add apps to it? or only for the mac people???

EMAIL ME AT p.a.i.g.e.93@hotmail.com thanks in advance

  20. Boxfan, January 7, 2008:

For those with SSL email problems go into *settings*, *mail*, and then *advanced* and turn SSL connection off.

  21. Boxfan, January 7, 2008:

Paige, yes you can install apps onto the itouch with a windows machine. Once you have downgraded to 1.1.1 and then upgraded back to 1.1.2 you won’t need your PC as long as you have Wifi.

  22. Nayef, January 9, 2008:

    Hi Everyone,

The repo website is not working because of a server problem… They need money to keep the server running, so PLEASE DONATE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN so they can get back on track soon.

BTW, is there any other website that does the same thing for iPod touch? Thanks

  25. Kerron, January 13, 2008:

I also need help I recently got this ipod and now that the repo website is down i cant get iphone apps is there another site that i can get these apps

  26. Wes, January 14, 2008:

So…. You download 1.1.1, then put the jailbreak on it, then upgrade to 1.1.2? If someone could send me step by step instructions, that’d be GREAT!!

  27. Nick, January 15, 2008:

    The NEW repository is “applerepo.com”
    Add that instead of “repo.us.to”
If you don’t trust me, visit repo.us.to.

    Can someone help me here…

I added a few sources to the installer to install the apple iphone apps (mail, weather, etc), found the listing for 1.1.4 Applications (had iPhone 1.1.4 Apps and 1.1.4 Fix Mail listed), added it, then installed the 1.1.4 Applications package, but the only application that shows up is Stocks. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here…

    Any ideas?

  39. Yusuf, June 2, 2008:
