Detailed Instructions on How to Jailbreak 1.1.3

Author : The Lone Stag

I have gotten posts on how to jailbreak an iPod Touch on 1.1.3, so for all of you who need this, follow the instructions carefully. It worked for my 16g, but it should be compatible with every iPod Touch. I didn’t write instructions for 1.1.4 because some apps don’t work for it yet and there isn’t a really safe way to jailbreak it that I like. I am assuming that you all need to be told every step so you don’t mess it up. No offense.

1. Restore your iPod Touch to Firmware 1.1.1

  • Download the firmware at http://www.applewb.com/2008/03/04/list-of-all-iphone-and-ipod-touch-firmwares-10-102-111-112-113-114/
  • Plug in your iPod
  • Run iTunes
  • When your iPod pops up, hold shift (option key for Mac users) and click restore
  • Select the file you just downloaded and wait for your iPod to be restored
  • Don’t add music or name your iPod yet.
  • Unplug it after it has been restored (wait until you get to the screen that says Set Up Your iPod).

If your iPod had an unknown error when you tried to restore, you have two options.

1) This is a little trick that worked for me. Restore the firmware to 1.1.3 (download it at http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/SBML/osx/061-4060.20080115.9Iuh5/iPod1,1_1.1.3_4A93_Restore.ipsw), then add just a few songs to it and sync it. Now try the restore to 1.1.1

2) Put your iPod into DFU mode. This is tricky, but it worked for me once. Go to http://dermapthera.wordpress.com/2008/01/27/how-to-make-your-ipod-touch-in-dfu-mode/

  • Once it is in firmware 1.1.1
  • On your iPod, go to Settings
  • Click General
  • Turn Auto-Lock to Never

2. Install AppSnap

  • On your iPod, open Safari (it will ask you to choose your WiFi, do it)
  • Go to the website www.jailbreakme.com
  • Install AppSnapp
  • Let it run and it will reset springboard
  • Unlock your iPod and see it jailbroken

3. Install BSD Subsystem

  • Open Installer. You will get an upgrade pop-up, do it. It will also say donate, but click later unless you really want to do that now
  • Once done, go to the Install tab and under All Packages install BSD Subsystem
  • Click the home button to refresh your iPod

4. Add Sources

  • In Installer, click on the Sources tab
  • Click edit, then add the source http://www.ijailbreak.com/repo.plist
  • Click the home button
  • Turn off your iPod
  • Turn it back on

5. Jailbreak it to 1.1.3

  • In Installer, go to the Install tab, then go to iJailBreakMobile
  • Click iJaliBreakMobile 1.1.1 and install it
  • Once installed, click the home button
  • Before running this program, make sure you have a lot of charge as it will take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your WiFi Connection
  • Click iJailbreak and wait for it to do its thing
  • When it is done, it will restart your iPod
  • If it doesn’t, and you wait more than five minutes, the hold the power and home buttons until it turns off, then turn it back on

6. Fixing Stuff

  • In Installer, go to Install, All Packages, then install BSD Subsystem (I know you already did this, but it was deleted during the upgrade)
  • In Installer, go to Install, iJailbreakMobile, then install Remove 1.1.3 Upgrade…
  • In Installer, go to Install, iJailbreakMobile, then install iPod touch Software Up… (this will get you the wiggly feature and install the iPod Touch Software Upgrade), click home and click iJailbreak (it will do its thing and then restart your iPod)
  • In Installer, go to Install, iJailbreakMobile, then install Fix Mail Passwords
  • Add the source http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo
  • In Installer, go to Install, All Packages, then install BossTool
  • Once installed, click home and let the iPod refresh
  • Click BossTools, Free Disk Space, then Relocate Fonts
  • You can then uninstall BossTool in Installer in the Uninstall tab

7. Sync with iTunes

  • Plug in your iPod and sync with iTunes (you can now add your stuff)
  • Everything is now DONE

There you go. You now have a jailbroken 1.1.3 iPod Touch. If you have any questions, leave a post or email me at LoneStag01@aim.com. If I am online, I will be able to help you via AIM. Welcome to the world of jailbroken iPods. Enjoy!

  1. kobak, March 8, 2008:

Does it work with steps 4-5-6-7 with a jailbroken 1.1.2 ?

  2. Drew, March 8, 2008:

Thanks so much for this! I just ordered a refurb 8GB Touch off the Apple Store yesterday, and was looking for a Jailbreak guide for it.

Am I reading the 3rd part of step 6 correctly? This process will add the January Software Upgrade, and give me the maps, mail, etc. apps?

  3. Jan, March 9, 2008:

thank you for detailed instructions! ;)

  4. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To kobak:

With a jailbroken 1.1.2, you go to iJailbreakMobile and install 1.1.2 iJailbreak on step 5.2. Follow the rest the same as normal.

  5. ipod touch, March 9, 2008:

I just bought the iPod touch online with the new software so when i downgrade it to 1.1.1 will it remove the software???

  6. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To Drew:

Yes, you get all of the apps from the upgrade for FREE. You have to install the fix for mail, but other than that they all work. Plus you get the wiggly feature, which is actually a real convenience.

  7. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To ipod touch:

I am pretty sure that downgrading will remove the new software, but in further steps you get them back, so it should all even out.

  8. ipod touch, March 9, 2008:

ok thanks i just wanted to be sure just in case i did something wrong i’d loose it.

  9. ipod touch, March 9, 2008:

ohh one more question when i jailbreak it is there an app that can hack other people’s wifi. so i can use the neighbours internet.

  10. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To ipod touch:

Besides that being highly illegal, there is nobody who is going to advertise that. So no. Not that i know of.

  11. Drew, March 9, 2008:

    Lone Stag,

Thanks for the info. By “install the mail fix,” do you mean this step:

In Installer, go to Install, iJailbreakMobile, then install Fix Mail Passwords

Is that all it takes to fix the Mail issue?

  12. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To Drew:

Yes, that is the right install. Did you follow my method? Did it work for you?

  13. itouch, March 9, 2008:

during step 5… is there a point of time where the screen just shines? like there is just light and nothing else? cuz after i see the screen that looks lik comman prompt later on the whole touch screen just goes blank..not black but blank with light..is that suppose to happen? its still sitting there lik that and not restarting…i tried turning it off or going to home but it wont let me

  14. itouch, March 9, 2008:

never mind….i seen u update ur info and followed it..now it works…sorry about that…thankz alot for the info…very well written!

  15. itouch, March 9, 2008:

sorry another question…wat if i cant find bosstool under all packages? i only see blued up and blueprint

  16. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To itouch:

Did you install community sources (under install, sources, community sources)? Look under packages once that is installed.

  17. Drew, March 9, 2008:

I haven’t had the chance to do it yet. I’m just checking out the process in anticipation of getting my Touch. ^.^

I ordered it off the Apple Store and it’s shipped already, but I live in Japan and it’s going to my parents’ house in the US. I’ll be picking it up in a couple weeks when I go to visit them, and wanted to make sure I could Jailbreak it on day one.

  18. itouch, March 9, 2008:

Sorry i cant believe i missed that step..but i got it all under control now…so after im done that and i have uninstalled bosstool. i am now officially done? and can continue to put my music/pictures etc etc?

You are the best Lone Stag!

  19. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To itouch:

    Yes, you are done. Enjoy!

  20. itouch, March 9, 2008:

Ohh sorry to bother again..but i tried to install some of the games but it wont let me…it gives me an error

  21. itouch, March 9, 2008:

oh and also is it safe to update the installer? it keeps asking me to update the installer

  22. zak, March 9, 2008:

i cant seem to be able to downgrade my 1.1.3 soft ware to 1.1.1

  23. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To itouch:

It is safe to update the installer. That might be the problem. Other things might be that it has not been made for the version 1.1.3, if it is an old game or something just might be wrong with that particular game. I just tried downloading some games on mine (i rejailbroke it today) and it worked fine.

  24. itouch, March 9, 2008:

does huarongdao work for u? i update the installer and tried to download that game and others…but i get the error ” error in script command 1: IntallApp”

    thankz

  25. itouch, March 9, 2008:

sorry i would like to appolize to u again..lol…all i had to do was go back to home so it can refresh..it works now thankz alot..u were a big help!

  26. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To zak:

First off, is there anything on your 1.1.3 iPod? This happened to me a lot, and this is how I fixed it. Restore your iPod so that it is a blank 1.1.3. Then add a few songs to it. Now try to do the restore. If this doesn’t work, you are going to have to try to put your iPod into dfu mode. http://www.dermapthera.wordpress.com/2008/01/27/how-to-make-your-iPod-touch-in-dfu-mode/

  27. kobak, March 9, 2008:

Thanks, the only problem is, that I can’t connect to my device with ssh and ftp, because it does not recognize my previously used password. IS there a way to reset the root passwd???

  28. kobak, March 9, 2008:

Alright, ftp, and ssh works with the default root password alpine, but the terminal.app wants a password from me, where it sais for every passwd that it’s incorrect.

  29. z32o, March 9, 2008:

I bought my touch at japan, and when I choose the restore package you posted it gives me an error and I can’t use it to Restore. Help please >_<’

  30. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To z32o:

Follow the directions I gave to zak in post 27.

  31. kobak, March 9, 2008:

Alright, I restored it, and now start the whole process from point 1.

  32. tix816, March 9, 2008:

so i plugged in my ipod, ran itunes, downloaded the file. then i pressed option and chose the file. it says an error occured. what should i do?

  33. tix816, March 9, 2008:

also when i go to downloaded file there are several options to choose from. which am i supposed to use?

  34. Soul195, March 9, 2008:

I can’t get http://www.jailbreakme.com (AppSnap) to jailbreak my 1.1.1. Freshly restored but my ipod just hangs trying to load the exploit TIFF. Anyone else having this problem?

  35. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To soul195:

Restore the firmware1.1.1 again. Then try the site again.

  36. Bob H. Barker, March 9, 2008:

I just upgraded to 1.1.4 onmy 8GB Touch and used Ziphone - and all has worked well. I can do everything. I’d try this before going through all of these steps.

  37. Dloader Girl, March 9, 2008:

Is this a jailbreak or a soft upgrade? Because I did a soft upgrade before, and it was SO BUGGY that I downgraded to a 1.1.2 JB. Please clarify this. As far as I know, as long as you DON’T have the 1.1.3 on the iPod as you jailbreak, then its a soft upgrade, not a JAILBREAK.

Thank you in advance if you reply.

  38. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To Bob H. Barker:

Ziphone only works for 8gb iPods. It has occasionally been reported to work on a 16gb (I tried it and it didn’t work) but it has never worked for a 32gb. So this method is for the other two, but also works for 8gb.

  39. The Lone Stag, March 9, 2008:

    To Dloader Girl:

This is a jailbreak. I had the same problem with soft upgrades, but this method works really well and has few if any bugs.

  40. Tim, March 10, 2008:

i tried to get the 1.1.1 patch but when i try to open the web url you provided i get a 403 forbidden message that i don’t have access to that webpage.

  41. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To Tim:

I posted a new link. Try it, it should work

  42. Ryan, March 10, 2008:

Thanks for the detailed instuctions, they are the best. They worked perfectly for me. I bought my ipod with 1.1.3 on it so i was having trouble restoring it until i read that u needed to put it in DFU mode, which did the trick.

  43. Ryan, March 10, 2008:

woa i got a problem. I installed the piano app and then i played around with that for a little bit. I went back to the home screen and then there was that loading circle in the center. Nothing responded so i turned my ipod off. When it turned back on and displayed the apple logo it also displayed the loading circle again and my ipod won’t boot up to the home screen. itunes still regognizes it and i can transfer songs to it, but the home screen still doenst’ load.

  44. Sam, March 10, 2008:

when it goes into the installer for the 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 it then says in the text thing, it says
    permission denined
    #
    #

    just like that

  45. noob, March 10, 2008:

I’m very new to this and don’t want to mess up my touch so I looked through the instructions and just wanted to clarify on how to get installer onto my ipod. After I install appsnap through my ipod wifi and unlock it. The installer feature should be there?

  46. Touch Me, March 10, 2008:

Hey does jailbreaking an ipod just mean that you can add random apps? is it possible to open up an ipod touch’s folders in my computer like you could with all of the previous ipods? umm also is jailbreaking an ipod risky (like could it screw it up), i assume it voids the warranty? thanks a lot :D

  47. PaperMan, March 10, 2008:

I wonder if the lyrics feature work on any of these upgrades
cos I’ve tried many other way but non of the 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 firmware has got this feature.

  48. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To Ryan:

Hold the power button and the home button like you are putting it into DFU mode, except don’t let go of both buttons until you get the connect to itunes symbol. Then you have to restore all over again. I a have no idea why this happened, maybe just a fluke.

  49. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To Sam:

You must not have shut down the iPod after you add sources. This happened to me once, and i ssh’d into it to fix the problem. For you, i would do a restore to 1.1.1 and try it again. Things happen.

  50. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To noob:

Yes, that is right. It jailbreaks 1.1.1 for you but you have to follow the rest of the directions for 1.1.3. I recommend doing so.

  51. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To Touch Me:

Jailbreaking lets you put apps onto your iPod that you would have to wait until June to possibly see (the SDK). Jailbreaking is sorta risky, but there is always a way to fix it, and i can help if anything goes wrong. It does void the warranty, but you can restore it if you dont like it so they will never know. I recommend jailbreaking.

  52. The Lone Stag, March 10, 2008:

    To PaperMan:

In Installer you can download lyrics, and it works for me.

  53. Simon, March 10, 2008:

Hello, just got myself a ipod touch and unknowning of jailbreak I updated my ipod to 1.1.4 -_- Do you think they will find a way to jailbreak that version in a near future?

  54. vNEILv, March 10, 2008:

Hey man, followed your instructions and when it has finished Jailbreak to 1.1.3 (Step 5) the ipod shows the connect to itunes screen. If i reset the ipod it still goes back to this screen. I have plugged it into itunes and it says this ipod is in recovery mode.

I’m having another go from the start to see if it works this time. Any ideas why it is doing this or am I doing something wrong.

  55. Rizzo, March 10, 2008:

If you have firmware 1.1.4 but downgrade it to 1.1.3, can you still use this guide to downgrade it to 1.1.1

  56. Joe, March 10, 2008:

    hello ipod hacker,

I have tried multiple times to get to the website you gave us to download the file needed to jailbreak the 8 GB ipod touch. the website hasnt worked and i was wondering if you could email the site to my email address.
    Thanks,
    joe
    footballjunkie93@yahoo.com

  57. Drak, March 10, 2008:

hi can any1 help me i keep getting the error command string 1: installer.app on some apps

  58. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To Simon:

I think ziphone.org is working on one. This one will work with 1.1.3 if you downgrade yours to it.

  59. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To vNEILv:

I think you are powering off way to soon. Wait until the screen doesnt change for 10 minutes and then turn it off. When you turn it off, let go of both buttons when it turns off or it will go into recovery mode.

  60. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To Rizzo:

Yes, and you cam actually try to downgrade from 1.1.4 directly to 1.1.1 to save time.

  61. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To Drak:

I have never had that happen to me. Try reinstalling the apps and if that doesnt work then try to redo the jailbreak, because maybe something went wrong.

  62. elmo, March 11, 2008:

    After step 5 I get..replace os/o22-3743-100.dmg yes no, etc…. how do I respond?

  63. Cesar, March 11, 2008:

i followed your instructions but ive been stuck at 88% for about 20 min now and the K/s is –.–K/s
    any suggestions?

  64. noob, March 11, 2008:

on step 5 I cannot seem to find the ijailbreakmobile file. where is it located?

  65. noob, March 11, 2008:

    nevermind, i found it

  66. noob, March 11, 2008:

i am having the same problem as the comment 55. after it rebooted, it gave me the connect to itunes thing. and it powers off after a while and when I turn it back on it goes back to the same icon. what should i do?

  67. farmboy34, March 11, 2008:

Same as 54. simon i upgraded to 1.1.4 you said their workin on the jailbreak so hows that goin

  68. leo_andres, March 11, 2008:

i got into the http://www.jailbreakme.com thingy and press the last line, it just dont work… what should i do now… confused 8-|

  69. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To elmo, Ceasar, and noob:

Do a manual turn off by holding power and home until the screen turns off and then turn it back on. If it didn’t work, then restore back to 1.1.1 and try again. Nothing is perfect, but it will work eventually.

  70. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To farmboy34:

They are working on one, but this one works to, just try downgrading to 1.1.1 instead of going to 1.1.3.

  71. The Lone Stag, March 11, 2008:

    To leo_andres:

Restore to 1.1.1 and try again.

  72. Nate, March 11, 2008:

In this process i failed at this Part “If it doesn’t, and you wait more than five minutes, the hold the power and home buttons until it turns off, then turn it back on”

    what do i do?

  73. Nate, March 11, 2008:

Ohh i see what you earlier, so even if it says connect to itunes i should still wait for about 10 min?

  74. OURKID, March 11, 2008:

the first URL is still 403…?

  75. Anon, March 11, 2008:

Nice guide, no problems up to installing BossTool.

Apparently it is no longer in the Installer. :(

  76. Anon, March 11, 2008:

    Solved it: http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo

Add that to your sources for BossTool.

  77. farmboy34, March 12, 2008:

so down grade to 1.1.1 and go from there

  78. farmboy34, March 12, 2008:

I had to pay to get mail maps weather notes and stocks. If I down grade will I lose those

  79. elmo, March 12, 2008:

Great job. Technical writing is clear and precise. I had a few glitches to overcome but the end result is excellent…THANKS

  80. Vinc, March 12, 2008:

Probably the best method on interent! My was jailbroken to 1.1.1 and I had install some app and loaded songs. I’m not sure will it be all erased but it’s alright. Thanks.

  81. farmboy34, March 12, 2008:

Wheres the best place to go to get 3d party apps. As they call them

  82. ipodtouch, March 12, 2008:

hey lone stag, im having a problem on step 6. i could not find bosstool on all packages.. pls help

  83. The Lone Stag, March 12, 2008:

    To Nate:

When it says connect to itunes, that means you did something wrong. You probably held the buttons for too long. This put it into restore mode. Connect it to itunes and start over.

  84. The Lone Stag, March 12, 2008:

    To OURKID:

I fixed it. The site wouldn’t let me post the link because it was too long.

  85. The Lone Stag, March 12, 2008:

    To farmboy34:

Wow, you actually paid for the apps? With this method, you get them for free. The third party apps come from the jailbroken iPod program Installer that installs automatically when you jailbreak it.

  86. The Lone Stag, March 12, 2008:

    To ipodtouch:

I put where the source is (thanks to OURKID).

  87. ubbu, March 12, 2008:

after step 5 i get a switched off ipod touch.. and when i swutch it on it goes into DFU mode..

  88. ubbu, March 12, 2008:

everything in step 6 is a must?

  89. Davis, March 12, 2008:

So, I used the 1.1.2-1.1.3 ijailbreakmobile updater, now I cannot uninstall any of my old apps, none of them appear on the springboard anymore, and when I install new apps they do not appear either.

  90. farmboy34, March 12, 2008:

I had to I just got the message of how to jailbreak so answer

  91. farmboy34, March 12, 2008:

    will it erase them

  92. qwerqwert, March 13, 2008:

every time i try it just says ipod couldnt be restored error occured (1)

  93. qwerqwert, March 13, 2008:

    dose any1 no y

  94. b14z3, March 13, 2008:

I’m stuck here, right now my iPod is stuck on that
“mount: / var: unknown special file or file system.
If you get a mount: / var: unknown special file or file system error, it is completely normal”

  95. qwerqwert, March 13, 2008:

i can get down to 1.1.2 but 1.1.1 wont work

  96. ipodtouch, March 13, 2008:

hey lone stag.. Thank you very much.. My iPod is now jailbroken! :)

  97. b14z3, March 13, 2008:

i still need help, im stil stuck on that message.

  98. Sektor, March 13, 2008:

Hey i jailbroken it at 1.1.1 but i get the ijailbreakmobile to work with BSD.but then when the jailbreak loads the cmd process says failed,or denied and doesnt upgrade?how do i fix?

  99. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To ubbu:

It is actually impossible to see that you are in DFU mode, since the screen should be blank. You probably are in restore mode, and this means you held the buttons for too long. Go back to firmware 1.1.1 and start over. Step 6 is actually necessary, so just do it. It isn’t that hard.

  100. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To Davis:

Restore to firmware 1.1.1 and start my directions from there. The restore should delete your apps, but you can install them again and get them running smoothly.

  101. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To farmboy34:

Jeez, calm down. You do get them back by installing them after you jailbreak 1.1.3. It is in the instructions. But yes, it will erase them. Don’t worry, you get them back.

  102. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To b14z3:

If the problem didn’t fix itself, hold power and home until it turns off. If it isn’t jailbroken, then start over by restoring to 1.1.1 and doing steps over again. Sorry, but stuff does happen.

  103. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To qwerqwert:

It needs to be put into DFU mode. Read the directions.

  104. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To Sektor:

Did you turn the iPod off (not just sleep it) when you were supposed to? Restore to 1.1.1 and try again.

  105. b14z3, March 13, 2008:

Lone Stag, if I turn it off and on, how will I know if it’s jailbroken?

  106. The Lone Stag, March 13, 2008:

    To b14z3:

You only power off if the jailbreak is stuck on a process for more than 20 minutes. You will know it is jailbroken if the Installer app is on your screen.

  107. farmboy34, March 13, 2008:

Thanks i have to wait tho

  108. farmboy34, March 13, 2008:

And what will this do to ur computer will it do anything

  109. farmboy34, March 13, 2008:

srry and what if you already have stuff on ur ipod will u have to replace it

  110. Anon, March 14, 2008:

farmboy: yes you will have to replace everything you had on your iPod (don’t worry, you’ll get the January Update apps if you follow the instructions) and it won’t do anything to your computer (why should it, the only thing you’re using the computer for with this process is iTunes and downgrading to 1.1.1).

At multiple points when going 1.1.1 -> 1.1.3, it will look like it has frozen. It has not. Just wait.

  111. farmboy34, March 14, 2008:

    thanks man

I can’t install the jailbroken 1.1.3. I did all the steps right. I ran iJailBreakMe and it rebooted my iPod, but it’s still on 1.1.1. Any help?

when i try to download appsnap safari exits itself, help?

  114. rAwks, March 14, 2008:

I used this method to hack to 1.1.3 and I have no problems. I install anything I want and I get no errors at all. My only problem is that some of my songs don’t play. I thought maybe something happened when I uploaded them to my iPod, so I deleted them off and loaded them back on. Still not able to play. I then downgraded to 1.1.1 and put my music in there and it plays fine. Then I used your method for 1.1.3, but the music just doesn’t want to play. Please help! Thanks!

  115. rAwks, March 14, 2008:

(Pertaining to my post on 115) I researched about why my music won’t play and a handful of people have the same problem. The music that wasn’t playing were the songs purchased from iTunes, so it has to do with the DRM. Some forums mentioned that they are having these problems from going from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3, but if they went from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 everything worked out fine. Maybe you might have a fix for this using the jailbreak mentioned here.

Also, I’m not sure if I’m the first to notice this (probably not), but I found a dial pad on my iPod touch with the 1.1.3 jailbreak you supplied us with. It really doesn’t do anything, but it’s kind of cool just to have. So, the way you access this dial pad is through your music. Here’s some steps to get into it:

    1. Click on your music icon
    2. Click on any song you want to play
    3. When your on the screen with the album title, cover art, etc…double click on your home button twice fast
    4. A screen should pop up with favorites, recents, contacts, keypad, and voicemail

That’s how you can access this screen. I guess this happens because the jailbreak supplied is an iPhone jailbreak (when I did the hack I saw something about iPhone firmware in it). Well, that’s it!

brilliant… just brilliant - what i’ve been looking for all along

the initial download took a while, maybe update step 2 to also dim brightness

what about habitual breakers who want to do it locally without the huge initial download?

When i have installed the sources, i DON’T shut down. but when he installed iJailbreak it MUST go to the “unlock” screen, so when i unlock, and i start iJailbreak to go to jailbroken 1.1.3 from my jailbroken 1.1.1 he always said permission denied, i’ve tried it over 7 times, and every time i did reboot a new 1.1.1, install a new appsnap, but it’s still not working!! :-(

    Help Please!!

If you install jiggy and the jiggy runtime, it will allow you to make apps using javascript to create the programs. So just learn that entire programming language. Then start. I am working on it too.

  133. The Lone Stag, March 17, 2008:

Try the ZiPhone method. It is easier. If not, keep trying and actually shut down.

it shows the date and time I opened it.
Is there anyway I can re-download this? And also is there anyway to unjailbreak an iTouch, ’cause I wanted to use the ZiPhone method ’cause I couldn’t get this one to work. Please help.

Okay, I found out that I, too, am getting that little blue question mark. I know that means that I’ve installed AppSnapp before, and I need to restore. However, when I check the firmware in settings menu, it still shows 1.1.1. I tried this procedure like three or four times, with the same result. Now, what am I doing wrong? Someone help me please!
