   I really hope they do this. There really isn’t any reason why they shouldn’t. More people will buy the product if it’s more versatile.

   Great, but I hope Apple allows free (both gratis and libre) software. I wonder if they will “authenticate” only for a fee?

   I would love to be able to install third party apps on my ipod just I would love it if I could pick and choose what I wanted from anywhere and not from only a list of “Officially Licensed Products” The way apple usually does things.
