Apple iPod Touch Update 1.1.1

Author : kdollar

I just plugged in my iPod Touch to my computer and was promoted to download a new software update. It was software version 1.1.1 and it looks like it fixes bugs but doesn’t add any new features. The download was 150.6mb and took a couple minutes to download and install. I will report back if I see any changes to the iPod Touch after I use it for a couple hours…or if you find anything new leave it in the comments.

There was also an update for the iPhone and this was used mainly to add the iTunes Wifi music store which the iPod Touch was shipped with.

This update took out my iPod touch and left it in a state where it had to be completely restored. The failure code was 1602.

has anyone else updated? what bugs does it fix? mines been working alright on the original firmware.

Also I had a thought…. the 1.1.1 firmware might be harder to hack and jailbreak. Im waiting to see the improvements from 1.1.1 or to see if anyone can hack the factory firmware before I upgrade.

so far, i have noticed no differences in the update, but i wasnt really having any problems with mine before. i didnt notice any problems with blacks, it all seemed fine. i really wish there was an “add event” function in the calander……

and i also just wanted to report, incase no one else has noticed this, but no matter where you are on your iPod touch, if you hit the home button twice, a little thing pops up and you can change music volume, fast forward or rewind, play/pause and all that. this is also available when you first “turn” it on, where you have to unlock it. that is conviencient because that means you dont have go through the whole unlocking process. (note: this is not something that was included in the update, it was on the standard software)

so yeah, there is no noticeable difference with the 1.1.1 update that i can see.

I updated my ipod touch last night and have not experienced any differences. I tested my screen with the LCD test website somewhere on the Internet and I believe my screen has no problems before and after the update.

@Joe: That’s been around since they came out…

Also, there were a lot of bugs with mobile safari, it crashed often on my iPod touch, sending back data to Apple when syncing.

before the update, if u have the pass code turned on and keep on pressing the wrong combination when ur iPod is locked, the iPod will display a message saying: “iPhone is Disabled” but after the update, it says” iPod is Disabled”

    Hey guys,
I just want to update about what happens when you update your iPod.
At first, I reported no difference, but now, I’ve noticed a few things that are off. One of them is that the iPod now has a tendancey to crash, and the music randomly shuts off and whatnot. Also, the Safari App was acting very odd. I originally was typing this on my iPod, but had to switch (Now I’m on my computer) because my iPod deleted everything I had been typing. I pressed the delete key to delete one thing, and then it was like the key was stuck down, and it deleted the entire paragraph, and all I could do was sit there and watch.
So yeah, I’m thinking update actually did do something, and nothing good either.

wow, i just updated and my screen looks 120% better, also i had the same problem once when i tried to backspace i tapped it and watched the entire thing just get erased =/ other than that though it has been good

I’m updating right now… and I’m pissed!!!!! I was just plugging my iPod in to back up some music I’ve purchased on it and iTunes said that there was an update available. As it was finishing I received error code 6, and then error code 2003. It says I need to restore the iPod to it’s original settings…. I just lost all of my music that I purchased!!! Can I get it back?

  15. Tom, September 30, 2007:

As far as the problems mentioned with music randomly shutting off the the back button issue while use Safari I actually experienced these issue before installing the new update. So these are pre-update issues. I was actually hoping the update would correct these.

  16. BRRRAP, October 1, 2007:

I got the same random music shut off thing…
anyways…i have one question if anyone can answer it for me.
if i took a video on my Sony cam and i wanted to convert it to my Touch then i would do that on iTunes right? well i did that and when its done converting theres no sound…i was wondering if anyone could help me on that

  17. PocketBrain, October 1, 2007:

I get the music/Safari crash (more likely when both are working) with the update and did not have that problem before the update. Perhaps it was prone to do so before the update, but I did not experience it, and would have to say that the crashes are more frequent at the very least. Anybody know how to roll back?

  18. Wesley Ferrell, October 3, 2007:

so me and my buddy got one, he updated, i didnt, mine still works, his doesnt :)

His wont even turn on anymore and when you reset it, it sits at the blackapple screen.
