Although a verizon iPhone has been rumored for years. . . I’m still hopeful and will grasp on to any rumor I can. The following rumor supports a CDMA based iPhone which could cater to both Sprint and/or Verizon:
I don’t know anything about negotiations with Verizon, and I doubt anyone does other than the highest-level executives at both companies. But I do know that engineering-wise, the wheels are turning on N92, the CDMA variant of the iPhone 4. It’s certainly not in production yet, and hasn’t reached DVT status (device verification test – like Gray Powell’s infamous stolen unit), but it is, a few little birdies claim, at EVT (engineering verification test). That’s one step below DVT, which is one step below production. So it’s right about where you’d think it would be if it were scheduled to go on sale in January. The CDMA iPhone is no longer a cold storage, keep-it-alive-just-in-case-we-need-it project.
To the best of my knowledge Apple has never gotten this far along producing a probable solution to AT&T’s terrible reception problem. The source, Gruber, claims that it is still not a “sure” thing but that we should definitely keep our eyes peeled.
Supposedly, according to Petragon, the CDMA iPhones are due for production in December and release in January.
I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

I wrote an article about this a while back, and a similar rumor of a 7 inch iPad seems to have made its way back into the blogosphere.
Currently, the iPad has a 9.7 inch diagonal lcd screen.
Apparently, Apple believes a 7 inch iPad has a good market as well.
Digitimes, iLounge, AppleRummors, and IDG news all share reports that this 7 inch iPad is in the works for this coming Christmas.
The Economic Daily reports that Taiwanese companies have won a number of component contracts for the iPad 2. Chimei Innolux will supply 7-inch LCD screens, which use the same IPS (in-plane switching) technology found in the original iPad, which improves viewing angles and color on LCD screens. Touchscreen technology for the screens will come from Cando Corporation, the report says.

Apple’s recent iOS 4.0.2 release had two, main purposes.
1. Close up some PDF exploites
2. Disable Jailbreakme.com from working
Of course, I am most concerned with the latter but the former also poses some problems.
The problem, apple’s release only helps out the newer devices and leaves the older models out in the sun. Fortunately, the dev team is very considerate and has released a patch that removes the exploit for all users.
The fix is installable via Cydia itself now (search for “PDF Patch”). To test that it’s working properly, visit jailbreakme.com again. After you slide to jailbreak, you should no longer see a dialog box pop up (you’ll just see the star background). That means you’re no longer vulnerable!
We love you dev team!
So, do this:
DO NOT INSTALL iOS 4.0.2 -> unless, of course, you want to lose your jailbreakme
INSTALL the PDF Patch in Cydia
Rejoice!

If the exhaustive eight step install process I posted a few weeks ago is a bit too long or complex, here is a new, easier, and faster way to accomplish the same thing: install flash on your:
iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, or iPad
step 1. A jailbroken device is necessitated so if you haven’t already, here is tutorial.
step 2. Then simple open Cydia > Manage > Sources
step 3. Edit source and add http://repo.benm.at
step 4: Download Frash and install it!!

Well, Mac Rumors confirms, the iPod Touch with camera is coming very soon. For the past two years, Apple has updated its iPod Touch product line during the month of September. Since they have only been making them for 3 years, I think this next one will follow suite and pop up in two months.
The current, realistic I might add, speculation concerns the iPod Touch 3 having a 3.2 MP camera (just like the iPhone 3gs). Now you may ask, “well why not an iPhone 4 like camera?” The issue here in-lies in the size of the iPod Touch Model. If Apple keeps their current size and style, which in my opinion is getting a bit old, then there is almost no chance that the new iPod touch will contain any camera over 3.2 MP.
Now, we cannot abandon the reasoning that technology has advanced considerably in the past year or so; and maybe Apple has found a way to fit a smaller camera in the same old housing.
Personally, I hope for a brand new, remastered device.
Additionally, Digitimes reports that the new device will be capable of supporting video and photo as well as sport the new A4 processor currently found within the iPhone 4.

According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Verizon is to sell the iPhone starting this coming January. I know what you’re thinking: what is the reliability of this rumor?
Well, I can’t promise anything but this rumor seems to have some very reliable signs.
Bloomberg states,”
The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, and Jeffrey Nelson, a Verizon Wireless spokesman, declined to comment.
Estimates place the number of verizon iphone buyers at 3 million (out of 92.8 million) at the end of the first quarter.
Another source accurately states, ” It’s had to ignore the quality issues that AT&T has faced”
Another big news tidbit is that Verizon Wireless plans on building a high-speed fourth- generation network unto which it plans to unveil several devices that will run on the new technology in January at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Good show.

Today, the Dev-team released PwnageTool 4.01 for the iOS 4.0. As of right now, certain devices’ restrictions have not yet been bypassed, but that will hopefully soon change!
What is not supported. . . yet!
- iPhone 2G
- iPod Touch 1G
- iPod Touch 3G
Supported Devices:
Summary: Currently, PwnageTool only works on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom.
- If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.
- If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.01
Summary: Currently, PwnageTool only works on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom.
- If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G at 3.1.2 (but not jailbroken with Spirit) then you should create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.01 and restore from recovery mode or DFU mode.
- If you have an out of the box iPhone 3G you should restore using a PwnageTool 4.01 ipsw using DFU mode.
- If you have a Jailbroken 3.1.3 iPhone 3G it is very possible that this can fail from recovery mode, if this failure happens you will need to restore using DFU mode.
- As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on iPhone 3G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.
*Remember: whenever entering DFU mode, use PwnageTool
- If you have an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) that is jailbroken (but not with Spirit) then you can restore using recovery mode.
- As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on non-MC iPod Touch 2G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.

It has just been confirmed that the new iPhone 4 does indeed have twice the RAM that both the iPhone 3Gs and the iPad have been equipped with. It has 512MB of RAM, for a phone . . . that is a lot.
The iPhone 3G contains 128MBs and was then, for the iPhone 3Gs model, pumped up to 256MB. What really confounds me is why the iPad was allotted this same 256MB and not 512 like the iPhone 4.
This leaves me with one real conclusion: the next iPad will be stocked. I’m hoping on two cameras, 512MB of RAM, and basically all the same features the iPhone 4 has currently (those same features that should have been debuted in the iPad. . .but apple knows how to market its releases well).
The 512 was confirmed during the WWDC and will help the iPhone 4 with its ability to run a skimmed down version of iMovie.

Well, I’ll admit: it definitely is Steve, it definitely is.
Personally, I cannot believe how much Apple put into the iPhone 4. Apple has a reputation for not bringing all the advances to the table the first time around, I guess the fourth time does it.
