Thoughts…

We’ve all heard about the new 3G iPhone coming out July 11 ONLY costing a whooping $199 are you out of your mind. Lots of people are stoked that the price dropped pretty low…even cheaper than an iPod Touch. People don’t realize the catch the iPhone has brought amongst the eager people that wait in line to get the 3G iPhone the first day it releases. Well, the iPhone is MUCH cheaper than the original one, but the plan for the phone went up. So…in the long run you’re actually paying about $40-$50 more than you would original pay with the old iPhone and the old rate plan. People probably wouldn’t mind coughing up that $40-$50 because you do get a faster phone. Since the iPhone dropped lower than the iPod Touch, do you think the iPod Touch price will go down also?!? I would imagine that the iPhone should be more expensive than the iPod Touch. What are your thoughts about this? Also, if you do have an older iPod Touch and you do actually update to get the App Store…why do iPod Touch owners have to pay $10 for the App Store?!? When you pay $10 for the App Store, you still have to pay for the apps you want…so…why don’t they just give the App Store for FREE?!? Just a few thoughts about that.

A couple of apps now are charging to have their programs on your device. I had the game Pool on my iPod touch and there was an update in Installer. I thought the update would fix any bugs or add new options or something. In reality, the update just changed one option…the option that you have to purchase a license to play the game. There is a trial button, but I was a bit disappointed that apps now are charging to use their programs. I can’t really complain or anything because these developers DO put A LOT of time into their work. I was just wondering that if I’m paying to have these games or apps through a jailbreak, shouldn’t we just get the App Store and pay for it and have these apps legally?!? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling developers to stop charging because they do deserve a little reward for all they do, but I would rather donate a little something instead.

Just wanted to see people’s opinions on these few things that I wrote about. Also a reminder, Lone Stag stated DO NOT UPDATE ANYTHING..FIRMWARE…ITUNES…NOTHING!!! You can do all that if you want to lose your jailbreak, but for now…keep it old school. Someone will EVENTUALLY jailbreak the firmware…someone always does! Hope all goes well!

Hey Rawks, I totally agree… why is the iphone data plan $30??? I was actually going to switch from my ipod touch and N95 8GB to a 3G iphone if it did everything it was supposed to do… No hope of that happening. I am very interested in getting a huge upgrade in memory for the ipod touch too… I can’t wait to see.?. But yes, in general the ipod touch in principle MUST be retailed for less than the phone! I am never buying another Apple product unless this happens. I will gladly pay more for a multitude of other gadgets just to spite them, lol. Although My ipod touch has been the best and most “handy” device I have ever owned (next to me N95 8GB). Peace

I just hope more companies will be giving away their applications instead of charging for them. There has to be an ‘open source movement’ at the App Store.

rawks good article, i totally agree with ur point of views.. and yes the touch should be cheaper than the iphone, or at least, the same price. i would be happy with a 199$ 8GB Touch..

    and why dont have 3G Touch’s?? :)

The App Store does not cost $10 to add. The upgrade of the OS costs $10. The App Store is included in said update, and will not be available seperately because it would be useless without the upgraded OS.

As for why they are even charging for the upgrade of the OS has been covered extensively in the past. Cell phones aren’t the same as music players.
