Should You Jailbreak or Not?

Posted in: Hacks, Jailbreak, iPod Touch

I have gotten too many emails on whether or not to jailbreak your iPod.

DO IT.

Seriously, you need to at least try. So far, there is no possible way to completely break your iPod other than throwing it on the ground and jumping on it. I have bricked and “broken” my iPod so many times that I have lost count. This is because I try beta apps and jailbreak methods. You don’t have to. That is why I’m here.

You don’t have to worry if something goes wrong. If it won’t connect to iTunes, you have a problem during the jailbreak, or some other problem where your iPod won’t run correctly, then do a hard restore.

How to do a hard restore

  1. Plug your iPod into your computer.
  2. Hold power and home until the iPod turns off. KEEP HOLDING.
  3. When the Apple logo shows up, let go of the power button. KEEP HOLDING HOME.
  4. Hold home until the “Connect to iTunes” logo appears.
  5. Restore.
  6. Your iPod is fixed and you can go back to doing whatever you wanted to do.

I know some of you are thinking, “Why should I jailbreak my iPod?” Well there are many reasons.

  • Add applications that make the most out of your iPod such as Instant Messaging, Screencapturers, Customize options, Computer Controllers, etc.
  • Add awesome games such as Parking Lot, Tetris, Mah Jong, Gameboy games, etc.
  • Get the January Update Package with the Wiggle Feature for FREE.
  • Add dictionaries, Youtube downloaders, free music downloaders, etc. etc. etc.
  • Learn how to jailbreak by reading this

This is a cool thing to do. For those of you who have jailbroken, post a comment. Inspire some iPodder into hacking his iPod. Give positive feedback. List why you jailbroke, how it works, or at least if it was worth it. You could change someone’s entertainment experience. I might have helped you, why don’t you give back to the community.

Enjoy.
