Danger!! Danger!!!

Author : The Lone Stag

Well, as you can see, the day has finally arrived. With all of these new iPods (stories covered by rooster) comes a new iTunes. Some of you might be wanting to upgrade to this version of iTunes. You should not. Even though iTunes 8.0 might seem really cool with it’s new “Genius” feature, it won’t be worth it for us jailbreakers. At least not yet. Since the WinPwn and Pwnage programs need to “pwn” iTunes for it to work, it needs to have the right codes for the right version. As of now, it won’t work with the new iTunes. If your iPod is already jailbroken, go ahead and update. If you haven’t yet and want to, stick with the old iTunes. I don’t want people crying to me for help when their iPods won’t jailbreak. I do not want to write another set of downgrading instructions.

UPDATE: A new version of iPod/iPhone firmware is out now. Do not update, as the same thing will happen as in the above paragraph

So be careful. Be patient. Be a jailbreaker.

The New iPod Touch

The iPod Touch 2G

The new Touch is finally here . . . and what a pod it is.  Only 8.5mm thin, with a great new contour design to fit perfectly and comfortably in the palm of your hand.

New Speakers: Just like the iPhone it now houses a external speaker so you can hear your music even without headphones.

Its Genius:

The iPod Classic, iPod Nano, and iPod Touch all have a built in personal DJ.  Genius is a smart playlist maker on the iPod that picks songs based on other songs and places them nicely in a playlist for you (Before, only iTunes could do this).

Example:

1. Your playing a song and like it so much you want to hear others just like it. 2. While playing the song, you tap the Genius symbol near the top of your iPod Touch.3. A new playlist appears in your playlist with that song as its title and songs like it as its contents.

Of Course, it has a great 3.5 In display with superb 3D positional sound, a built in Application store, built in Wi Fi, accelerometer, and kind of a GPS.  The GPS tells you your “approximate location, gives you directions, and traffic in that area.

The iPod Touch 2G also includes a Nike Plus iPod Sports built in reciever (You still have to buy the one for your shoe though) – Your own personal trainer for your work outs.

A new Battery & Size:

  • Music playback time: Up to 36 hours when fully charged
  • Video playback time: Up to 6 hours when fully charged

Weight:
4.1 inches (110 mm)
Width:
2.4 inches (61.8 mm)
Depth:
0.33 inch (8.5 mm)
Weight:
4.05 ounces (115 grams)

Prices for the iPod Touch 2G:

8 Gb : $229.00                                           16GB : $299.00                                32GB:

1,750 songs                                               3,500 songs                                    7,000 songs

10 hours of video                                       20 hours of video                           40 hours of video

New iPod Rumors!

Author : rooster

Expected release date: September 9th

Due to the reduced iPhone prices, Apple’s new releases will most likely be accompanied by some more price cuts.  Steve Jobs hinted at some great releases in a presentation of Apple’s third fiscal quarter results on July 21:

“We set a new record for Mac sales, we think we have a real winner with our new iPhone 3G, and we’re busy finishing several more wonderful new products to launch in the coming months.”

The new iPods and iPod Nanos will probably have more storage space and a new (but not too new) design.  The iPod Nano will be thinner (6mm), longer, and will have a wider screen.  The iPod Touch 2G will most likely have volume controls on the side, be a bit thicker, and resemble the iPhone 3G (no Camera though).
The only other hints so far revealed for the design of the iPod is a iPod Nano 4G Case made by Hamlin and
the CAD specs (Below). Concerning the actual look and color,  I guess well just need to wait and see.

New iPod Touch 2G & Nano 4G Dimensions

Apple also just announced the release of its new MacBooks. More memory (up to 4gb), more storage (250gb), the lastest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and the multi-touch track pad first introduced in the iPhone!

Of course to top it all of they had to also release the fastest Internet browser currently available: Safari 3.0! (The new Google Chrome, however, may give it a run for its money)

Please comment on any new Apple rumors and leaks!

The New WinPwn

Author : The Lone Stag

Well, I think that it finally happened. The guys who brought you WinPwn (mainly cmw) have made jailbreaking way too easy. I looked at WinPwn 2.5 and what a difference it was from the previous versions. It is so easy, a caveman could do it (sorry Geico). But seriously, when the term Guided User Interface is spoken, this is what people mean. I don’t think that I even need to post instructions on how to use it. I will, however, answer problems people have been having with it (if there are any) directly on this post. I know, I am breaking my own rules by actually answering posts, but I am pretty confident that I won’t be getting many questions.

By the way, I am pretty close to picking a new writer for this site. Since jailbreaking is pretty solid now, we will be focusing on more applications and general Apple news. I think by the end of the week, we will have some new posts that I am sure you readers will enjoy.
