WinPwn 2.0 is HERE

Author : The Lone Stag

So the new WinPwn is out. I am going to test it a few times before I release a “Detailed Instructions” and YouTube video. Expect a release within a day or two. Be patient and be prepared to have a jailbroken 2.0 with the AppStore.

Jailbreak 2.0 Using WinPwn Soon

Author : The Lone Stag

According to the official WinPwn site (http://winpwn.com/index.php/Main_Page), there will be a new release of the WinPwn FREE software that will jailbreak 2.0. The site says “soon”, so there is no really set date. Hopefully, within a few days this program will be completed and ready to operate. When that time comes, I will of course be there to write a “Detailed Instructions” and make a YouTube video. This jailbreak will supposedly let Installer coexist with the AppStore, which could prove to be interesting. Also, to those who will wait on 1.1.4 until the jailbreak gets bugs out of it, I will make a 1.1.4 youtube Jailbreak video using ZiPhone.

What the Heck? 1.1.5?

Author : The Lone Stag

So there is an update with iTunes today. A new firmware, 1.1.5. is now available for the iPod Touch. What the heck is this? So far, I have heard that it is hackable. You do have to install FWChanger in Installer if you jailbreak to make the firmware “appear” to be 1.1.4. Does this update actually do anything? So far, no. I have not noticed any changes that actually occur with this update. Personally, I suggest not to update. Even though it costs no money, it just seems like a waste of time to do aat the moment. I will look into it and see why this was even released.

If you did want it, here is the file. http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/SBML/osx/bundles/061-4841.20080714.bgy8O/iPod1,1_1.1.5_4B1_Restore.ipsw

Detailed Instructions on How to Downgrade from 2.0 to 1.1.4 (with video)

Author : The Lone Stag

Hello. If you are reading this, you have upgraded to firmware 2.0 and miss the old 1.1.4. No problem (even though I warned you). Here is what you gotta do. It is a little tricky, with 2 whole (complicated) steps, but it is worth it to be back into the hacking world. Here is the first video tutorial for the site on how to do it:

Detailed Instructions on how to Downgrade from 2.0 to 1.1.4

1. Downgrade iTunes

  • Since you need iTunes 7.7 in order to have 2.0, you need to downgrade and get iTunes 7.5 back.
  • First, uninstall iTunes 7.7. Once done, it will ask you to restart your computer. Do it.
  • Once restarted, download iTunes 7.5.
  • If it doesn’t run, in Windows, go to Start, Search, All Files and Folders. Type “iTunes Library.itl”. Find the file and delete it. Now it should work.

2. DFU Mode

  • This mode is a little tricky. First, connect your iPod. iTunes will pop up and say it won’t work with this version of iTunes. That is ok. You just need to put it into DFU Mode.
  • Turn up the sound on your computer. Next, turn your iPod off. Hold power and home for 10 (ten) seconds (as in 1001, 1002, 1003…). Let go of the power button while still holding the home button. Hold this until you here your computer give the “USB Connected Sound” (”Ba Dum” I think). Then let go. You are now in DFU Mode.
  • Now in iTunes, hold Shift and Click restore. Select the 1.1.4 firmware.
  • Let it do its thing.
  • If you get an error when you restore, use ZiPhone to get your device out of restore mode by running the program and going to Advanced Features, Normal Mode.
  • Once done, you should have firmware 1.1.4 on your iPod again. Jailbreak instructions are here.

There you go. Maybe you will listen next time. Also, as an added bonus, you can watch my first video on how to jailbreak. Maybe this will help you more. Let me know if it does, or if it is just a waste of time. If it isn’t a waste of time, let me know if I should make videos for other “Detailed Instructions”, such as SSHing or Jailbreaking.Good Luck.

Here We Go

Author : The Lone Stag

Ok, here’s what I gotta say. Listen up, pay attention, and you just might learn something.

I have tried out firmware 2.0. I may or may not have downloaded it from somewhere, but I am not allowed to POST where I got it (hint hint). I will be posting a more detailed look at 2.0 in the very near future. I will say this: it is not as good as a jailbroken 1.1.4. I DO NOT recommend upgrading. Live the hacker way. I think it is stupid to have to BUY apps. Just my linuxy opinion. PLUS, the apps weren’t all really special. I saw a few familiar names, some stupid and pointless ones, and some ridiculously expensive ones ($45!!!). But I digress.

Since rAawks left, I have been getting a lot of emails asking for help. Good job to those who listened and emailed me directly for help (LoneStag01@aim.com). For those of you who post IN ALL CAP LOCKS and are panicking because of a bug or glitch, PAY ATTENTION. Also, for  those of you answer these distressed posters, I thank you. Good job. Keep up the good work.

How many people out there actually own an iPhone and show up to this site? How many own Macs? I am sorry to inform you that I own neither. I cannot tell you how many answers I had to look up on other sites because I owned neither. How many of you are on this site? Should I buy one? Would people donate (via PayPal) to my cause?Just curious.

Now onto the request part. I have already stated that I do not support updating to 2.0. It is not hackable yet, and it is very hard to return back to 1.1.4. If people do need instructions how to return, post on this article. If i get enough, I will write a “Detailed Instructions” article. Anyway, I need to know what you readers want to know. Do you want AppStore information? Do you want hacker information? Jailbreak progress? Thoughts? Descriptions of apps (Installer and AppStore)? Interviews with hackers (Zibri of ZiPhone?) Honestly, I need some ideas.

This site was created to help you.

Hello, I am The Lone Stag. Welcome to iPodTouchHacks.com.

How nay I help you?

I know that with all of the changes with Apple and iTunes that there will be many questions. Just send me an email and I will help you as best I can.

So Much Is New

Author : The Lone Stag

Ok, here is the news.

The day before the 3G iPhone is to be released and Apple has given uswhat we have been waiting for: the Appstore and Frimware 2.0. Both of these come straight out of iTunes 7.7 and will affect us all. So far, some of the apps are free, but there are a lot that aren’t. Take a look at them. There are a lot of familiar names, some actually charging (freakin sellouts) for their apps. Is this the end of jailbreaking?

Speaking of jailbreaking, 2.0 is not jailbreakable yet. Actually, I am not completely sure of that yet. I am running WinPwn on the firmware now. It probably won’t work. Come on, it just “officially” came out today. Let the hackers work on it. Zibri (ZiPhone) has been working on it for a while now. My guess is he will show the first signs of a jailbreak.

To all, a word of caution. If you upgrade your iPods, it might be really had to get them back to a 1.1.4 jailbroken state. Plus, the new firmware is still a little buggy. Choose wisely whether or not to upgrade.

Just Be a Little Patient

Author : The Lone Stag

I am aware that the repo for the January update package isn’t working. The site is down because of a change in servers. You have two options.

1. Wait until the site is back up. My guess is in at least a week.

2. Use this alternate site:  http://repo.applerepo.com.

Farewell to iPod Touch Hacks

Author : rAwks

I know I haven’t written a whole lot of post or responded to questions recently. It’s due to the fact that I am in the process of moving to a new city and I’ve been training for my new job. This is actually going to be my last post on ipodtouchhacks.com. I am going to be constantly busy that I will not be able to write post and answer questions right away. I decided to resign from being a writer because I will not have the time to answer all your questions. I would be frustrated if I asked a question and then got an answer weeks later. Well, I hope you all the best and hope all your iPods treat you right. Hope all goes well!
